Fair enough. I was there and watched the professional slaughter men doing their job with their very large very sharp blades. One quick and instant stroke instant death… Another time, also in Turkey, I working on a project in a zinc mill. There was a poor goat tethered outside mill gates. The mill got commissioned and the goat got slaughtered - not very nicely. The slaughterer was useless. I won’t elaborate.
It’s not usually one quick stroke .
In a large animal like a cow there are many tendons and the wind pipe in the throat all these are generally hacked through .
It’s terribly painful there is no difference between their pain and ours if someone chose to cut out throats with a knife .
Animals are best killed in their own place while distracted by food by the captive bolt that renders them insensible immediately or by a gun , both to the brain .
This thread gets more horrific the more I read. I know I can ignore it, but more information leads to better choices… ie continuing to avoid eating meat
It was when I observed it. No hacking. Except that wee goat…
I don’t eat Prosciutto ham either. Not because of how the pigs are reared but because the ham itself is far too fatty.
I’m with Todger regarding fois gras too. Horrible greasy stuff.
