Thinking of getting a telescope. What should I look/go for?

Does anyone here own a telescope? What would you suggest for me, as a beginner in astronomy? Do you have a preference, for make, features?

I’d like to make a decision in a few days, so I can think of ordering one in time for my caravan stay end of June. Low lighting on site and close to the shoreline shows an amazing view of the sky (weather permitting).

Thanks.

Not high end budget, say up to £150.

something like this where you can attach a camera phone to record the
view this was about £150 on the internet. I can’t say howe good or bad it is, I will let you do the research for you to find out. What I would say is if you want to record what you see to be able to look at again in a photograph or not

I don’t know anything about these things really, but just had a thought … some allow you to attach a camera. Is that an option worth considering?

A phone clamp!

Jessops might be a place to ask/make enquiries.

I’d recommend one of these Jazzi, cheap and easy to store in a drawer. The hat is optional…

Telescope

Nah, OGF, bit too old fashioned, that.

It’s a pity Jessops no longer have stores. They would have been ideal. There are a couple on Amazon, but can’t decide which to go for. Yes, I want one with a phone holder.

We have a jessops in our go outdoors, mind you it was the old John Lewis store so it’s quite big, not sure if they’re in all of them…

No, nothing my side of the UK. One in London, by the looks of it. Oxford Street.

Currys have a a dozen or more.

Have you thought of buying a decent pair of binoculars?
Okay, not entirely the telescope experience but great for moon gazing!

In the meantime you get to think about buying something a little more specialised.

I hasten to add that I know absolutely nothing about telescopes.

Chili, you can’t take photos with bins.

Point taken!
