Incredible to watch the resilience of injured wild animals.
They get injured, heal without treatment, adjust to their predicament and get on with it.
Look at Waterbirds. So many lose a leg/foot, being bitten off by hungry fish.
They heal and waddle on.
I was watching a Pacific Black Duck on the weekend, one leg missing from the knee down, the gait changes, the good leg seems to move with the knee bent enough so that the shortened leg is touching the ground. Very little wobble because of a shortened leg.
Amazing. Could us humans do that? Have a leg amputated at the knee joint, allow it to heal naturally then get on with life?
No. We would no doubt bleed to death.
We have a raven with one leg who comes to the garden every day to be fed.I call him Hoppy, a tad cruel perhaps but he doesn’t know
I’ve had a magpie with one eye who lived out his last days in my garden and a squirrel who lived at the top of my pine tree …his tail was wispy and bent at a weird angle and he only had one ear.
Well go figure as someone very much into animals and my dad and I had small exotics like bushy tail Jirds , Brazilian pigmy opossums , Duprasis ( incredibly popular also in UK in the 1970’s ) and flying squirrels going back decades , Later I had reptiles now fish and birds I love animal documentaries yet never heard of Haggies , had no idea such an animal existed .
Opossums are cute … years ago I’d spend hours watching live webcams with them on.
I blinkin googled that you rascal!
As you know countless types of opossums , the Brazilian short tail opossums are the one’s kept as pets .
They are tiny and if you get them as baby become very tame , they like African Dormouse were very popular in USA and UK years ago , you can still buy them in USA but think only African Dormouse still available in UK.
Europe as you know has it’s species of Dormouse but think they are protected .
Dormouse I never had .
Btw let me add that short tail opossums should never be housed together though video has two but the environment created is great as solitary animals who will fight so if you opt to get one just get one not two .
Lol I too was conned , delightful .
I thought it was real and goes to show how videos now a days can fool one as so realistic .
Wow even this old jokester is conned here and there as thought real .
I loved the videos … what cute, inquisitive, beady eyed little critters … mind you, their teeth look like little razor blades.
