For all my friends on here that wished my wife well after we had to cancel our 5 week cruise through her serious Heart Condition, I would just say that her condition is now much improved. To cap it all over the weekend I recievd a cheque from the insurance company for the full amount we had laid out.

Also well done your Insurance Company for ‘no quibble’ refund ! (so many companies hold back a certain amount of money to go towards administration costs !) Would be interesting to know the company’s name - give them a bit of free publicity as a ‘thank you’. There may be other members who could be going abroad for holidays this year !

Gilly, Last October I changed my bank account from Barclays to Nationwide BS. As one of their items include free travel insurance for anyone under 75 and going on up to 30 days. I decided to give them a go. Because I am 79 with a medical condition and was going away for 35 days I telephoned for a quotation, and paid £60. This compared to the cheapest quote of over £900. When Margaret became ill, I notified them of her condition and paid an extra £116 to cover the condition. I made the claim later to recover around £7500, which they paid less £50 standard admin cost. It was underwritten by UK Travel Insurance. All of my dealings were
easy and pleasant. I would recommend the Nationwide offer to anyone, there are lots more to it as well, such as free breakdown and recovery for your car.
