Boozercruiser Lived in Rhos on Sea ![]()
Last posted 2018 apparently, seems like yesterday.
That’s so sad! What is it about taking those final steps onto a Jet or Helicopter.
Is there a “I really didn’t have to do this!” thought?
I saw a Well known Physicist was talking about the Universe expanding, Galaxies torn apart, Solar system expanding so fast that in 12 billion years stars would be ripped out of Galaxy’s. Ahh Who Cares! Don’t these smart guys really need to put their work into something able to do some good, say in 5 years. You know wheelchairs that transform into public conveyance on Ohare’s Airports Belt Walkway. Load themselves on the carrier after letting you get inside the car door. A car that comes to you for pick up at the door of Waldo’s.
Some of these Motorcycle Racing crashes on the TV are so insanely crazy. I’m thinking Moon cast futures for Bike racers.
At the end of the day it’s just his best guess Zac.
Are well known Physicists celebrities?
Have they contributed any great breakthroughs. Is it all a waste of $Billions and time.
Is the biggest threat to earth an society - future / Yellowstone.
Let’s add up the obvious, 100’s of Millions of tons of plastic trash dumped into the ocean just floating around. Bottles full of water and getting warm in there.

You know the mountains of trash around large cities and the way they get the clay to build them? A Dumb A’s know mountains cause air turbulences and change weather.
Estimated Trash in the Gulf Stream and Oceans
There is no single, exact figure for how many tons of trash have been dumped into the Gulf Stream, but scientists and cleanup organizations can give you a sense of the scale based on global ocean plastic estimates.
Global ocean plastic inflow
Recent research suggests that about 1–1.7 million metric tons (1–1.7 million tonnes) of plastic enter the oceans each year Our World in Data. This includes plastics from rivers, coastlines, and the atmosphere. A more comprehensive estimate from Ocean Conservancy puts the total amount of plastic that should have been landfilled but instead ends up in the ocean at around 11 million metric tons annually Ocean Conservancy. This is equivalent to over a garbage truck’s worth of plastic entering the ocean each minute.
Gulf Stream context
The Gulf Stream is a major ocean current that carries water, debris, and pollutants from the North Atlantic toward the equator. Much of the plastic entering the Atlantic Ocean — including the Gulf Stream — comes from rivers in North America, Europe, and Africa, as well as coastal litter. While no study has isolated the Gulf Stream’s exact contribution, it is part of the broader Atlantic inflow that feeds into the Great Atlantic Garbage Patch and other gyres.
Long-term accumulation
Plastic pollution is a cumulative problem. Even if only 1–1.7 million tonnes enter the ocean each year, over decades this adds up to tens of millions of tonnes in total. Much of this plastic is transported by currents like the Gulf Stream, where it can persist for centuries.
Key takeaway
- Annual inflow: ~1–1.7 million tonnes of plastic into the oceans, with some estimates higher at ~11 million tonnes annually Our World in Data**+1**.
- Gulf Stream role: Part of the Atlantic inflow, carrying debris from multiple sources.
- Cumulative impact: Decades of inflow mean the total trash in the Gulf Stream and connected waters is in the tens of millions of tonnes.
If you want the most precise Gulf Stream-specific figure, it would require a targeted study measuring debris transport and accumulation along that current, which is not currently available.

It has been proven that ‘water in a bottle’ warms up quickly and stores heat. So basically its Millions of tons of Bottles full of hot water is ruining the Earths weather patterns. So basically Plastic is even more hazardous than Carbon Dioxide? Most likely damp garbage in plastic bags does the same thing on Clay Mountains around Large Cities ! … Then there are the CNG Flame off stack on them at the base. So now one starts to look at batteries of millions of tons of stuff inside them cells storing energy. Wowsa, its a soaken mess of hotness.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be looking at ways to reduce the amount of rubbish, especially plastic, into our oceans, but’s let put this into perspective…

One cubic kilometer of seawater weighs over one billion tons, so based on that, even if you considered the worst case scenario of 11 million tons annually, it could be contained in less than one cubic kilometer of seawater. And the rubbish in the sea tends to accumulate in just a few areas or gets washed up onto a beach somewhere.

This is an area nearly 1/3’d the size of the continental USA. China Container ships just churn their way thru the mess. We all see the Containers on the Rail Cars don’t we?
U are wrong about how it spreads. Enjoy a map off of Cal.

Ocean current’s are changing too because of it is an easy problem to pursue. …
England and North Europe will most likely notice the Gulf Stream is not helping much in the next 20 years or so.
The currents may be / are changing because of the Fricken filthy mess… Spread over 10’s of 1000’ns of Sq miles of ocean surface and below.
I’m sorry Zac but I find this just scare mongering on an industrial scale and usually put out by various governments when they are going to inflict something unpleasant on joe public, like another tax or a massive hike in energy and fuel prices to justify it.
They’ve done the same with climate change and so called ‘sustainable’ energy production. How can it be sustainable when they’ve just replaced half a dozen coal fired power stations with tens of thousands of wind turbines and solar panels which need to be manufactured, transported and erected using billions of tons of concrete and connected with billions of miles of copper cabling because most wind turbines are either at sea or remote.
Part of that rubbish you mention is the rubbish and concrete dumped in the sea during construction of said wind turbines.
Those maps are well out of context, and don’t forget, most of the dumped rubbish floats, hence the accumulations that I mentioned, and just six feet under the surface will be clear, apart from the heavier stuff that has sunk to the bottom.
As I said…Scare mongering, and aimed at people who have no power to change things except sticking a few quid in a charity box. Most of the rubbish dumped in the sea is from governments, water companies and other big industrial conglomerates. You should be aiming this at Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and the other big cheeses who really control the civilised world. Not a few old codgers and has beens on an over fifties forum.
This Old Codger is full of Beans I’ll have you know ![]()
Actually I can show you sites in Mo. with near 200 wind turbines on them able to Power 100,000 homes and farms. Mostly its 1000’s of tons of gravel building the roads and a Cement anchor pads for the Turbines to mount / rest on, maybe over 400 feet tall. These and solar power needs huge battery complexes to store the power for constant steady draw. Of course there are mechanical problems. Will the ground winds change over the next 10 years. They have been in operation for a couple of years and growing in numbers. But to watch them fields of 100’s built in a couple of years is awesome. I know one of the electricians building them. He believes in the future. I don’t think Coal fired is a wise end choice. Nuke and NG are a wise move. Nuke just needs better segment construction. Its time for Phase Daylight to start. There are millions of Acres of not so good agricultural land, hills only sheep can graze and they could around the fenced Turbines. Gravel roads to them are cheap. Its just takes’all the huge piles of crushed stone that are in those quarries now. Millions of tons just sitting there. I’m talking rural areas with gravel Co. roads not Large cities or Stupid built sea turbines sitting on Hundreds of feet below water areas. Subject to the Sea and Tremors. I’m Seeing possibly 1000’s of Turbines and Millions of acres of Solar. in just 2 years time. I occasionally drive past a huge solar farm of hundreds of acres just built last 2 years.
I’m not real excited about mobile batteries in vehicles being an answer. They seem very dangerous in the hands of the average persons drive. Maybe a Hybrid will fancy me one day. I personally know how dangerous these Lithium batteries can be with all those cells hooked up together. Its an instant fire of incredible heat if they fail. They don’t go out till the power is drained.
Basically this Mid East Crap is just subterfuge to change the subject to oil. You deal with Billionaires and they will always screw you. Unions forced change, so taxpayers union needs to force change.
Most likely Petroleum will price its self out as the years pass just as coal, I remember the pricy crap back in the 70’s. Then there were the men’s lives ruined by black lung. The next generation will be able to handle it. Eblo has already stated that they won’t need to go a lot of places. The Intent being to stop millions upon millions flying all over hell.
