One I occassionally hear when two women are running another down … “oh yeah, she’s a right mardy cow” Where did mardy come from?
I just looked up mardy on Google it said…a petulant bad mood…makes sense
I aways wondered who Larry was when we say Happy as Larry…I just looked it up on Google apparently he was a Boxer in New Zealand.he never lost a fight and made £1000 for his last fight…so he was very happy
An expression I hear amongst younger ones is describing something great or wonderful, as “sick” To me, something being sick is either unwell, or deranged…
Thanks, d00d, that motorcycle looks in need of some serious TLC!
There is no cow on the ice?
Sick as a dog. (dogs are pretty healthy)
Barking mad (again with the dogs)
Drunk as a skunk (??)
Stiff upper lip (makes it hard to eat, drink and pronounce words correctly)
Keep your chin up (what if you’re in a fight)
Shake a leg (this action speeds up time apparently)
Daft as a brush.
Dog’s do-dahs.
Mutt’s nuts.
Cat’s whiskers.
Well, I’ll go to our House!
Keep Your Shirt On!
I’ll follow her to the ends of the earth!
Stick it where the sun don’t shine!
Shove it where the squirrel shoves it’s nuts!
Never let your dinghy dangle in the wake!
We have possums on the property (pesky buggers!) and the dogs are forever barking up the trees…whether they have the right one or not I am not prepared to find out!
LOL Very wise
