big bang !! :roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

It won’t just be schools. It will be care homes and businesses - especially small businesses. There is no consumer protection or price cap for businesses. So they are seeing x3 or x4 increases in electricity costs for next year. This will be lots and lots will go out of business or owners will simply shut up shop and walk away. It will also mean that those who can scrape by will push up their prices, possibly considerably.
This is going to a very scary and very costly year ahead.

@strathmore , That is all true, but l ask, who will bail out the government ??
They have allready gone over their credit limit, anymore borrowing will
drain the whole economy !!
Maybe that is why the chancellor has jetted off to america, that bastion
of credit ?? :-1::-1:

Your comments remind me of the downfall of Sri Lanka @Donkeyman :frowning_face:

@PixieKnuckles , l do my best pixie , theres more to come !! :-1::-1:

i wonder how this will impact on school fees?

The care home I work in is due to be refurbished soon, it’s partly built onto an old vicarage the heating system in the old part is run from a gas boiler, the other part has underfloor heating although, in quite a few rooms it doesn’t work and has to be supplemented with electric panel heaters, the hot water is run from cylinders with heating elements, I dread to think what the energy costs will be in the coming months, I can see the refurb not going ahead and maybe even being sold off,

But at least it’s warm in Sri Lanka

Probably make them go up but if you can afford to pay for schooling you can afford to pay a bit more .
The Olympus Academy Trust is for state funded academies.

I admire your determination to embrace positivity and optimism in any given situation. Just letting you know…it failed abysmally… :frowning_face:

Sorry Pixie but it is warm in Sri Lanka plus it’s a beautiful place .
However what with global warming perhaps winter will be shorter this year .
I don’t know what the answer is perhaps make all building more insulated so they don’t need so much heating .Turn off the lights at night ( I always wonder why so many buildings have lights on all night .)

Hi

The issue is not just schools, care homes or the NHS it is every business and industry, it’s only houses which have the cap , everything else is going up much more than even the huge increases for houses.

Businesses are going to close, it will be worse than COVID.

No other large industrial country has an energy supply system like the UK, totally market based
We are going to have our economy hit much more than others

Well I know I am only a young thing !
But the spectre of care homes is not so far on the horizon as it once was .
