Songs that were ahead of their time

If only more people and nations heeded the words of the songs in this thread.

All quiet on the Western Front, nobody saw
A youth asleep in the foreign soil, planted by the war
Feel the pulse of human blood pouring forth
See the stems of Europe bend under force

All quiet
All quiet
All quiet on the Western Front

So tired of this garden’s grief, nobody cares
Old kin kiss the small white cross, their only souvenir
See the Prussian offense fly, weren’t we grand
To place the feel of cold sharp steel in their hands

All quiet
All quiet
All quiet on the Western Front

It’s gone all quiet on the Western Front, male angels sigh
Ghosts float in a flooded trench as Germany dies
Fever reaps the flowers of France, fair-haired boys
String the harps to Victory’s voice, joyous noise

All quiet
All quiet
All quiet on the Western Front

All quiet
All quiet
All quiet on the Western Front

Definitely ahead of their time. Who’d have expected that in the early1970s? This one is from 1978. The New York Times called them “The Beatles of Electronic Dance Music”
Kraftwerk, The Model

She’s a model and she’s looking good
I’d like to take her home that’s understood
She plays hard to get, she smiles from time to time
It only takes a camera to change her mind

She’s going out to nightclubs drinking just champagne
And she has been checking nearly all the men
She’s playing her game and you can hear them say
She is looking good, for beauty we will pay

She’s posing for consumer products now and then
For every camera she gives the best she can
I saw her on the cover of a magazine
Now she’s a big success, I want to meet her again

I’m not so sure about ahead off its time, but it certainly did make people think about how they should be treating others.
Excerpt from a Teenage Opera

Count the days into years
His eighty two brings many fears
Yesterday’s laughter turned to tears
His arms and legs don’t feel so strong
His heart is weak, there’s something wrong
Opens windows in despair
Tries to breathe in some fresh air
His conscience cries: “Get on your feet
Without you, Jack, the town can’t eat”

Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, get off your back
Go into town, don’t let them down, oh no, no
Grocer jack, grocer Jack, get off your back
Go into town, don’t let them down, oh no, no

The people that live in the town
Don’t understand
He’s never been known to miss his round
“It’s ten-o’clock”, the housewives yell
“When Jack turns up we’ll 'give him hell”

Husbands moan at breakfast tables
No milk, no egg, no marmalade labels
Mothers send their children out
To Jack’s house to scream and shout

Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, get off your back
Come into town, don’t let them down, oh no, no
Grocer jack, grocer Jack, get off your back
Come into town, don’t let them down, oh no, no

A Sunday morning bright and clear
Lovely flowers decorate the marvellous square
People cry and walk away and think about the fateful day
Now they wish they’d given Jack more affection and respect
Little children dressed in black don’t know what happened to old Jack

Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, is it true what mummy says
You won’t come back, oh no, oh no
Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, is it true what mummy says
You won’t come back, oh no, oh no

Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, is it true what mummy says
You won’t come back, oh no, oh no
Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, is it true what mummy says
You won’t come back, oh no, oh no

Grocer Jack, grocer Jack, is it true what mummy says
You won’t come back, oh no, oh no

Don’t Push Me

Stick around the world you live in
Don’t ever try to give in
Cos you won’t be forgiven
Don’t push me
Don’t talk too loud or shout
Don’t walk or move about
Until the lights go out
Don’t push me
And when the world starts cracking
Melt down those coins you’re stacking
And put them all right back in
That giant trunk you’re packing
Cos where you’re going to
They’ll be no use to you
Whatever you do
Don’t push me
You’ll never get a break
They’ll tie you to the stake
Get out for Heaven’s sake
Don’t push me
Don’t get hung up too much
And don’t get out of touch
Or they may steal your crutch
Don’t push me
And when they scream start swimming
Don’t stop to save the women
Because the end’s beginning
Brother we all need trimming
And where you’re going to
He won’t be thanking you
Whatever you do
Don’t push me
And when they shout hooray
Do what the people say
You’re here to work not play
Don’t push me
He’s got the world to run
The war has just begun
Destruction’s gonna come
Don’t push me
It’s much too late for learning
The flames inside are burning
The Earth will soon stop turning
The body’s senses churning
And where you’re going to
I won’t be helping you
Whatever you do
Don’t push me
Whatever you do
Don’t push me

Johnny Cash shocked me when I heard this for the first time … Hurt.

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar’s chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Brain Damage “you rearrange me 'til I’m sane” … obviously written under the influence of Psilocybin or other such mind altering chemicals.

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games
And daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path

The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade
You make the change
You rearrange me 'til I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head, but it’s not me

And if the cloud bursts thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon

I can’t think of anything to say except, laughing is nice

Pink Floyd ~ Another Brick In The Wall

We don’t need no education
Wе don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers, lеave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave us kids alone!

All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall
