I have trouble remembering certain words, it’s always the same words, so I made a list and refer to it when needed. Why use six words when you can find one that does the job…
Correct spelling for me was mandatory at school - more than three spelling maitakes and you got the belt (strap). That fixed it for me. We probably wouldn’t allow that these days.
Quite. Why circumlocute? ![]()

Yo street talk Bro
Being dyslexic, a friend gave me a Calendar one Christmas with a photo of witty toilet wall graffiti for each month. One month’s graffiti including. “Dyslexics of the world untie.”
I used to be good at spelling but as I get older I forget how to spell a lot of words. In particular diarrhoea, yes, I looked that up. ![]()
A reminder how to spell diarrhoea, Tiff. …….” Died In A Rolls Royce Having Over Eaten Again”. ![]()
Oh That’s useful to know. But why would anyone want to know how to spell diaheria ?
Perhaps someone who can be reckless during COVID shut down out of boredom just to see what would happen drank close to a gallon of prune juice in a few hours with several large hot / spicy sausages while watching Everybody Loves Raymond and then he needed to look up on the internet how to stop the diarrhea but he learned there was no going back and he paid for his stupidity but yes again the proper spelling comes in handy .
Of course. I hadn’t thought of that.
Playing with words, it’s a bit like Diabetes being spelled ‘direbetes’
Diarrhoea could be spelled Direrear, which describes it well.
Well that is because you are a normal human being not a nut .
Thank you for that, Mags.

Because I suffer from it a lot, being diagnosed with Diverticulitus & I can’t spelt that either.
That’s no fun. But getting the spelling right doesn’t make it any better, I’m sure.
Get well soon Tiff xx
Because it’s the most common ailment to be off work sick with d00d, and filling in your sick note was a nightmare…
However, I haven’t needed to write it since I retired…Except on the forum of course.
I’ve never had a sick note, but I though it was supposed to be filled in by a GP.
I did skive off work once or twice with “food poisoning”, just faked it over the phone. “The flu” was favourite excuse.
We had to fill in a form that asked “Reason for Absence?” and we didn’t need to see a doctor for a sick note until after one week d00d…
The only time we had an excuse for school was for snow in the winter of 1962. Where we lived was up in the hills above Kirriemuir.
You need to let it go ![]()
