Yes. They also tickle him after I dry him when I bath him when he stays over. As my underskirts sort of brush against his skin when I give him a hug. He lets out a giggle.
Was shopping earlier with grandson, Iâve been invited to a friends wedding, so I needed to buy a new silk underskirt.
I donât think Iâve worn a silky skirt slip since the 1990s! Fashions changed and the formal look in skirt suits and heels is really not on trend any more. Iâve noticed this particularly since covid. The office fashions now would make Maoâs China proud. Itâs like people are generated by an AI identikit utilitarian fashion macro printer. The shoes are puzzling, everyone seems to wear posh pretend trainers.
I noticed the first big change in office wear around 1999/2000. Suits and the formal look were replaced by cute tops and delicate cardies (which I loved at the time). But shoes were still very formal and heeled.
The good thing is that these days I donât have to spend any time ironing shirts and taking suits to the dry cleaner, re-heeling delicate leather slip ons or wasting ÂŁÂŁÂŁâs on pretty polly sheer tights. Their shares must have nosedived.
Itâs got very sloppy these days Annie, nobody seems to care about their appearance anymore.
When I first joined The Royal Mail many years ago the uniform code was strict. You even had to wear a post office tie although that might be excused during hot weather.
same when BT was just Post OfficeTelephones when I joined. hd to wear the form. BT even tried to do it again with BT clothes and steel capped shoes.
My uncle was a postman for the GPO (as it was called in those days) and I have memories of him wearing very hot woollen uniforms and a peak cap - riding a red bike with a large frame-type structure at the front to carry his mail bag. (Sorry a rather off-topic - I donât think he wore any silk ⊠but then again you never know )
I spent the first 35 years of my working life as a toolmaker and shirt and tie were essential in the profession. Brown or blue smocks were worn to protect your pressed shirt and trousers. no boiler suits in that job, I wasnât sure about the silk undies thoughâŠ
Thatâs not the case OGF. Itâs quite tricky to get the balance right between scruffy and smart casual. But people must pay quite a bit for clothes that look bland but acceptable. Iâm finding it hard to work out the shoe fashions when youâre over 50 but want to fit in. Iâm not sure I want to wear platform trainers to work!
You should look at the world from where I see it AnnieâŠ
Walk a mile in my shoesâŠ
Walk a mile in Old Foxyâs shoes then slip into those stilettos for a business meeting.
I think if anything people care more about appearance and fashion. And though I regret the demise of silky slips I really welcome fashion that lets us wear nice trainers with our smart dresses.
I had no idea there was something holding a girl back.
When you spend as much time as I do people watching outside Greggs you might think differently Helen, especially with the more robust members of the opposite sex.
Not to mention Tattoos and face jewelryâŠI see some sightsâŠ
Yes perhaps, although fashion tastes can be questionable. They seem to revolve a hell of a lot around JD Sports these days. Iâll refrain from becoming too critical not being a Beau Brummell myself
The Mobile Phone has played its part, yer canât do skin tight no more and carry a mobile comfortably, the only option for geezers is combats
With a cammo pattern slip worn over the top obviouslyâŠ
Young women these days require a great deal of make up & hair effort. There is a fashion for very complicated eye make up and fake eyelashes. Along with this there is the âcaterpillar crawling across the foreheadâ eyebrow fashion. Then there is the complex engineering of gel nail extension creations.
Itâs not surprising that after all this effort they want to stay in tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Iâm glad I was young at a time when it was all diy easy and you didnât need a spirit level to check your make up was symmetrical before you left the house in the morning.
What do you make of these AnnieS
Thatâs not me BTW!
