Shoppers can avoid wearing face masks - if they sing their way around supermarket

Well this one pertains to … dance, music, theatres …

We can always agree to disagree.

We could! Though I suspect this funding only came after Lloyd Webber’s campaigning and very many demonstrations by members of the performing arts. The link I gave for Webber’s legal action was dated June 21. The funding given to arts organisations from your link - dated December 21.
My son works in the entertainment industry and it was ignored for a very long time by government and one of the last industries to get back to work.

Financially very hard for the industries to survive unless supported by government funding. Same as here in the UK…then when they could reopen, it was with limited capacity.

That newspaper link of yours was nothing to do with Grants to the Arts councils though … it was Lloyd Webber and quite a few notable others complaining about the restrictions on numbers at events, whether they be in live stadium or an enclosed audience.

They couldn’t reasonably be expecting the government to make generous allowances for live stage events when the whole hospitality industry was suffering.

But help was given to the hospitality industry and the arts too, but entertainment was generally forgotten and left out!

I don’t believe it was … I believe everyone, whether hospitality or entertainment or tourist or the service industries suffered the brunt … and will likely be the first to recover.

As a case in point … there is a company that do train day trips … you know the type, luxurious, posh dining car, through the Peak district and over old viaducts.
Last years price ( though obviously irrelevant due to covid) … was £130 … this year, £175
Nice increase of about 33% if you can get the customer to pay it.

If I started singing in the shop then I would definitely no longer need a facemask because all the other shoppers (and staff) would run screaming for the exit!

Sadly, covid has become an excuse for hiking prices. I used to consider myself financially comfortable - not any more, I’m now having to consider downsizing!

How bloody ridiculous is that?

If I start singing they would insist I put a mask back on.
