I have been getting that one for ages. Some times twice a day. Have not got or never had a prime account.
Be warned.
Happened yesterday at my local Tescos(Rainham)
Oldish man buying petrol with a card.
A man comes up and says something wrong with that pump its not giving cards back go and tell the cashier.
They took his card and must have noted noted his pin number and withdrew ÂŁ2000 locally
I have two methods for scams.
Telephone: I have BT call protect - a free service where I can blacklist scam phone calls so they get a weird noise when they ring again. 30-40 scam phone calls a day reduced to maybe two a month.
Emails: I have a program called mailwasher Pro. This program sits on my computer and every two minutes reads the inbox of my email server.
Every scam email is shown and the source of any links it contains is laid bare. I am then able to go into my server and ban not just the user but the domain.
Iâm afraid that I donât have any such advanced facilities.
On the other hand, we have an answer-phone which records any calls. Trusted numbers are answered either when we hear them or after having heard the messages. Everything else is ignored and periodically deleted.
In addition, Google Mail has a very effective spam filter and very little escapes. In fact, I canât remember the last occasion when it did.
Exercise. They are telling us we need more of it.
Well after unsuccessfully trying to block some numbers on my phone. I have decided that every time I have to get out of my lounge chair to answer the phone that is in the hall. I am getting more exercise.
Plus that I am exercising my jaw when I start my windup with the nuisance callers.
I donât know if this is a scam, last week my car wouldnât start and I had to call Green flag. today I got a text message supposedly from Green flag asking me to complete a survey about my recent breakdownâŠthere was a numberâŠ447537414393 I looked the number up to see who had called, doesnât say itâs from Green flag so it might just be scammers taking a chance on someone having to call Green flag out , I didnât take the survey, just incase
Paula, it seems it could be a service company acting on behalf of Green Flag.

On the other hand:

I think you did the right thing in ignoring it.
Seems like a scam P V
Just had a scam from netflix asking me to update my account.
Dont have an account with netflix
I never ever do surveys paula, you did right not to do it. It could have been a âFishingâ expedition where they are building up information about youâŠ
Emails from Amazon stating that your order cannot be shipped. It then directs you to a ligit looking"Amazon" page asking you for your name, address and bank card details to complete your order.Iâve had two of these emails recently but after Iâd already received the goods Iâd ordered. So clearly this is a scam. Can imagine some people falling for this.
Wow, good job you received your goods already, RhosynâŠyes, many people would confirm their details with this one if they hadnât got their stuff
Now you know one of the reasons why I never buy anything from AmazonâŠ
To be fair, we buy quite a bit from Amazon, especially during the lockdowns. They are usually competitively priced and, with Prime, usually deliver the next day free of charge.
I have only had one or two problem over several years and they were sorted out quickly and without any quibbling. In one case, when a mis-delivery later turned up after they had sent me a replacement, they just told me to keep both items!
However, itâs always worth comparing prices with other outlets because very occasionally youâll find something a little cheaper than on Amazon.
Sorry JB, itâs got nothing to do with cost, more to do with principleâŠ
I canât remember if this has been mentioned in this thread or not but Royal Mail has issued 2 scam warnings that have been reported in todayâs DExpress:
My friend nearly got caught on one of those, Percy. The one where they tell you they have been unable to deliver your parcel.
- I had a scam phone call today, pretending to be from Amazon.
What sounded like a recorded voice said my Amazon account had been compromised. I hung up, then blocked the number.
The number was from: 03020 732 626.
I have just checked with Amazon and they told me my account is perfectly safe and they will look into this for me.
Very rarely do I, as ebay is cheaper.
I had one of those today. The first thing I noticed is that the text was from a telephone number, not Royal Mail. Royal Mail only appears in the text itself.
