Richmond, although Mama is a very emotional song & Roy has a wonderful voice, I got the impression that he was so emotive, whilst singing it, that his words were not as clear as usual.
I am not criticizing, but just wondering if he recorded it during one of the tragic periods of his life.
Could possibly be the case Twinks – he did have a very sad life - and music can move us all very deeply - no doubt. in expressing a very sad loss in his life. this comes across in his performance.
