Being unable to move whilst scaling this mountain. My body froze for 20 minutes. Eventually I was able to descend.
While at a boarding school for asthmatics, the wooded area beyond the field was strictly ‘out of bounds’. It was out of bounds because one of the children a few years previously had fallen out of a tree and broken his back. Naturally, some of us kids still went there and climbed the trees.
There was a kind of ‘course’ that involved going from one tree to another by way of the branches. There was a big gap at one point where not many took the risk. Not me either for a long time. I was on my own one day and went for it. A big leap and I jumped the gap successfully. From then on, I had the method and would go for it every time. I thought I was being quite brave. Dangerous yes but nine year old boys don’t think about that.
Fantastic view.Is that west Tasmania?
