Queen cancels pre-Christmas family lunch and Christmas in Sandringham as Omicron surges

I agree RN. Not everyone does the right thing though.

Apparently, many families, including those of some FMs, are NOT cancelling … :man_shrugging:

How do you know what forum members are doing?
We’re talking about PRE Christmas get-togethers yes?

It was mentioned on a thread yesterday Ruthio … strictly speaking, who had broken covid rules last Christmas

The media have been watching and waiting to see what the Queen would do - they now have to report that the dinner has been cancelled. Much to their disappointment I shouldn’t wonder because there isn’t much else they can say, which would have been very different had it gone ahead! The media spend their time waiting for someone to slip up and if the dinner had gone ahead they would have had a field day.

The question I answered related to “gatherings”.

But your opening post and link was specifically related to PRE Christmas gatherings or dinners as the Queen’s, which she has very sensibly cancelled.

Yesterday’s thread I posted on was about actual Christmas family get-togethers, according to the last minute Tier system.
I had one branch of my family excluded as they were ‘Red’ and another were able to join us as they were ‘Amber’ …

Oh yes, I read that on the forum yesterday, mentioning no names, :open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth:

Well, we’ve not reached Doomsday yet - 200,000 cases a day is just the start - when we reach Doomsday all “gatherings” will be banned.

I think she has done the right thing, I’m sure quite a few will follow suit, unfortunately there are always the selfish ones, who only think of themselves and blow everyone else.:rage:

What? the bitch! I was just waiting for my invite to arrive, Was looking forward to it.

Language!!

Buckingham Palace aides described it as a personal decision and “reflects a precautionary approach”.

It is the second year the pandemic has caused the cancellation of the Queen’s Christmas trip to Sandringham.

A wise decision from Her Majesty … :+1:

She has X amount to meet all bills etc and then if in a tight spot her reps will apply for Grant In Aid. The last I was informed about funding, ‘she’ kept 15% of proceeds of The Crown Estates and as far as I’m aware, other costs are met by something known as The Occupied Royal Palaces Estate; but things change with governments, so that info might not be right up to date.
