<<< Finds Warm ‘Olive Oily’. Does the trick.
She’s quite a gentle. Sole.
“You’re awfully pretty Olive”…
“Oh! You’re pretty awful yourself Popeye”
I suggest you (one) puts nothing in ones ear smaller than your elbow. Your eardrum is much thinner than your bass drum and therefore very easily damaged.
After the Ball with ‘Olive’ waz over. >> Reality.
An ENT. Consultant. Peered into these Lug Holes.1977.
Sat silent for a couple of mins. And said. " I’ve been practicing for 25yrs. And have never seen eardrums so scared".
Despite long enduring Tinnitus. The £4500 MOD. coughed up for SWD. was useful.
I would only do this under the guidance of a physician, LD.
It is an odd fact that we surfers typically don’t clean out our ears, letting the wax process do its job. Letting our ears do their job prevents ear infections and reduces damage to the ear drums. The exception, of course is a plug that prevents that self-cleaning process.
Here’s some feedback for you Foxy. My rechargeable jet-washer arrived from Amazon around noon and I charged it immediately. After an hour or so, I decided to try it out, so filled with warmish water and a little hydrogen peroxide. With a triptych mirror, it was fairly easy to position the device so I could see the jet to aim into that ear. It’s the jet that goes into the ear and NOT the nozzle/tip. I tried different settings and the pulse jet did the job surprisingly well, because plenty of gunk came out with the water into the receptacle provided which was held with my other hand. A 2nd pulsed jetting removed the wax plug and now my right ear is hearing again. So, to me, it was worth every penny I paid. I can’t say if others will have the same experience, but for me this ear washer has been all that I had hoped it would be and money very well spent
Ewwwwww…but YAY! I am sure that was very satisfying.
Glad that is over with. Seems like I have been having to shout for some time to be heard…
Thanks for the feedback LongDriver, it sounds good (and so does your ear… )
I’ll soften up the wax in one ear and try out that spiral thingy and if it’s no better I’ll get one of those jets. I’m not totally deaf but just certain frequencies are missing, usually women’s voices (no seriously) I had a hearing test at specsavers a while back and they wanted to sell me a hearing aid for a kings ransom…
I tried one of those 30 quid hearing aids out of a magazine but it didn’t help. It amplified all the frequencies, and the ones I can’t hear got lost in the noise. Apparently the expensive digital ones just amplify the bits you can’t hear and leave the rest normal.
I’m glad you are happy with the results LongDriver because I know you are a musician and need your hearing more than most…
Agreed.
I would be very wary of poking things into the ear - you can damage your ear and you can also end up pushing the wax in further - making it harder to flush out.
Glad it worked out in the end.
That indicates to me that wax is not your problem, but age-related hearing loss is. Specsavers hold a NHS diagnosis and aid supplying contract at no cost to the patient, so I suggest you phone your GP and ask for a referral to Specsavers as a NHS patient. My 1st aids were issued under that contract and I was supplied with Danalogic Ambio aids and of course an endless supply of size 13 batteries. Don’t be fobbed of either, you have a right to be referred if you request it. Your GP will receive a referal fee unlike if you were refered to your area hospital audiology.

I use a neti pot. You pour warm water in one ear and grey matter comes out the other.
No wait, that’s for my nose, not ears.
Ah, so it was snot what you meant
Nice one Foxy
Yes I seriously believe that - is not uncommon because it tends t o be high frequency hearing which suffers more - hence women’s voices are harder to hear than men’s voices.
Probably due to 35 years in a very noisy engineering factory, and then several years developing audio equipment as a hobby. Oscillators, Amplifiers and alarm systems.
Or most men just ‘switch-off’ when some women speak?
I don’t think that will go down well with the feminists on here LongDriver…
Am I bovered, do I look bovered?
They can be quite fierce and I’m not a big guy like you…
