Plans for New Year's Eve?

Staying home with just a tot of whisky at midnight. It has been a busy Christmas and I have very much enjoyed having all the family around at various times. Even so, it will will be nice to have a bit of quiet time on New Year’s Eve

I guess it will be watch the fireworks on the telly, maybe have a drink at midnight and off to bed shortly after. I have never seen the point of doing anything more than that.

It appears most of us have had enough of celebrating and ringing in the New Year. Pleasant memories, laughter, fun, toasts to what was in store for us.
I know I will think back to younger days, and glad I did it then. Now, it’s enough to be thankful for friends I had, health, adventures and be content to watch fireworks on TV. Now, more about being toasty, than toasting.

Sad really. When someone is tired of celebrating another year then perhaps one is tired of life. Surely it is at the least a moment for reflection on what is good in one’s life? Another spin round the Sun.

Personally I have no time for new year resolutions they are definitely intended for the young, my only resolution is an ongoing one shared by just about everyone - to stay on this side of the grass for as long as possible and savour every minute of while I am.

I celebrate and reflect what is good in my life every day not just once a year.

But the New Year just brings it into focus and makes it special.

It’s a bit sad when folks new year resolution is to watch fireworks on the TV in “High Resolution”

The absolute joy of watching a 55" 4K screen for another year is surely worth celebrating with fireworks?

Meeting a few friends for a quiet drink then if we feel like it, over to the village hall to the caleigh for a while. Have a good New Year everybody.

I understand that many prefer a quiet night in. But not me. I’ll be helping out in our local village where 200+ people are coming to our new year eve party. Five courses of food, singing, dancing and much, much wine. Given the track record of previous years, we won’t be serving the main course until after midnight - so desserts and coffee are likely to be at 2am. Dancing might peter out by 3am. I will be having a tactical nap this afternoon in preparation.
Of course, being Scottish this is all normal. Look up “Stonehaven Fireballs” to understand my hogmanay education (and the fireballs simply marked the start of night - first footing would then go on until daylight.)
