Permanent permission to remain in UK and in EU

All across Europe and in the UK the post-Brexit fun continues for many. A key part of the withdrawal agreement was how citizen from one place living in another were to be treated. Essentially the rule was that if an individual could evidence that they had lived in that country for more than 5 years then they got a permanent visa. If they had arrived more recently then they got a 5 year residency visa. That was five years ago.
This means there are over 1 million EU citizens in the UK whose 5-year residency leave to remain will be due for replacement with a permanent leave to remain. And there are something like 150,000 UK citizens across Europe who need to go through the same process. (Actually the exact process will differ in each country but the end result will be the same.)
Given the huge numbers and the administrative effort required I am surprised that there has been zero news coverage on this (beyond local social media chat). Apart that is from the proposal from Reform to scrap indefinite leave to remain. However Reform appear to have forgotten that they cannot break the withdrawal agreement and the right to permanent residency is baked into that agreement. Ironic that this party, of all political parties, has not understood how Brexit worked.

Is this Farage getting revenge on his ex wives? Wife one was Grainne Hayes, who is Irish. Wife two was German Kirsten Mehr. His current love is French far right nationalist, Laure Ferrari.

" Urgent plan to hire thousands of nurses from India and Philippines

The Government is also going to make it easier to recruit people from abroad to work in the NHS and care sector

“As part of this, we will work with the sector and recruitment experts to examine how to recruit staff from overseas more effectively into adult social care.”

Health Secretary Steve Barclay wants the overseas recruitment spree to include sending NHS managers to countries such as India and the Philippines to hire thousands of nurses, The Times reported. The paper added Mr Barclay is also looking to make it easier for regulators to check international qualifications so that staff can begin working more quickly.

“The simple fact is that we do not have enough doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff to meet the growing and increasingly complex healthcare needs of our population,” Dr Mohan said earlier in the month.

And today.
