I couldn’t read the article because I kept getting a warning message that my security was at risk if I entered the MSM site…Anyone else get a warning?

It appears you’d be the one to recognize one right off hand, birds of a feather.

No warning for me.What I read is they are blaming some of it on pollutants in the air.
Golf courses use a lot of herbicides, etc…

That’s putting it very well :grinning:

Thanks Mr Smith.

We are surrounded by chemicals everyday, cleaning fluids that can soak into your skin, and air fresheners containing God knows what that hang in the air to be taken into your lungs.
The stuff they feed to farm animals to produce a better product, they never go away. And the chemicals that the retailers use to make your meat and fruit look tasty for longer in it’s journey around the world.
Soaps, anti-perspirants, shampoo’s, aftershaves and perfumes, all made in the lab.
Washing powders, conditioners, whiteners, and something to clean the washing machine…All stronger and different to the washing powder your mum used to use.
And don’t get me started on dishwashers… :009:
All eventually going down the drain and into the water courses to be sent to your tap.
Phosphates on the land (plus other fertilisers) to make the crops grow faster and more healthy…Are washed off the land into the rivers and streams and make pond weeds grow faster eventually blocking the flow and killing the fish…
There probably is more than one thing killing us all, and with the NHS keeping us alive into our nineties, it will be a slow death.

You’ve got to wonder if its not only Parkinson’s that has been increasing due to pollution. It seems very likely that the rapid increase in people getting cancers is also linked to chemicals, air borne pollutants, micro-plastics and forever chemicals.

lol outstanding because that is absolutely true thus certain times I will not drive out the gate .

Now and then a ball flies out of the course and hits a vehicle .

Summer months are actually the best because it is dangerous heat 90 degrees plus after 11 am to like 6 pm so not many on the course

Edit - I do not play golf but heard addictive so many here play it , I have gone there to look at the ponds as turtles and fish which I love .

I’m a Miami transplant an interloper if you will from Albany and there never met a soul who played it though Bocce ball was very popular there with the older crowd and never met anyone outside of there who played it but either way golf here in incredibly popular , it is like a cult they dearly love it men and women .

I do like to courses as far as LOVE the ponds as all fed via canals and great wildlife .

I’ve always been a runner and walker and find that things like fishing and golf are a bit too sedate for my active life, but as I’m getting older and more decrepit it’s time to slow down a bit.
I’ve played pitch and put with Mrs Fox while away on holiday a few times and find it very relaxing strolling round some well kept grounds and trying to knock balls down some holes while doing it.
I watch golf on the telly, and am very impressed with the beautiful course at Augusta where they hold the Masters each year. There are a few nice courses close to me and I used to glance over at them as I ran passed while out training.
I would love to go and play a round but am too embarrassed and would probably make a complete fool of myself, so I’ll just stick to watching it on telly…

“Put” where exactly? It does sound like a fun game though.

There are quite a few ‘Pitch and Put’ courses scattered around the UK Lincs.
They don’t occupy enough land for a full size golf course but they still play 18 holes.
They don’t have a ‘Par’ it’s just one longish shot onto the green (Pitch) and then just a couple of puts (Put)…or in my case, several puts, into the hole. I think you are supposed to reach the green in one shot, hence the less space required.
We often play at Keswick (Crow Park) but my favourite is in Guernsey…on Sausmarez Manor Pitch and Putt course. We only played 9 holes here.
This was the score sheet …Rob wins…

Air pollution directly linked to increased dementia risk

Long-term exposure accelerates the development of Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s disease with dementia in people who are predisposed to the conditions.

An analysis of 56 million people has shown that exposure to air pollution increases the risk of developing a particular form of dementia, the third most common type after Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.

The study, published in Science on 4 September1, suggests that there is a clear link between long-term exposure to PM2.5 — airborne particles that are smaller than 2.5 micrometres in diameter — and the development of dementia in people with Lewy body dementia or Parkinson’s disease.

The study found that PM2.5 exposure does not necessarily induce Lewy body dementia, but “accelerates the development,” in people who are already genetically predisposed to it, says Hui Chen, a clinician–neuroscientist at the University of Technology Sydney in Australia.
