Olio experiences vs Ebay - has anyone tried buying or selling goods?

Hopefully everyone knows Olio - the online app that allows you to give away food you don’t need to people who need free food.

I’m wondering whether anyone has tried selling through this app? I had a look at an achived Ebay thread on here which has put me off using that platform. Just giving away some dog food today and thought maybe it’s worth using Olio to sell some items as I am trying to declutter.

If not Olio or Ebay are there any other sites you’d recommend for selling various bits and pieces? For example I have a couple of vintage cameras, an antique dressing table, a mini trampoline and a running machine, various books.

I’ve used Nextdoor … for giving stuff away. And I have bought a couple of used camera lenses on Gumtree. But I don’t necessarily recommend these sites.

It’s hard trying to make money nowadays. It was easier before the internet.

ive not used that but Facebook Market is one ive used in the past .
A lot of people now want something for nothing , I tried to sell a pair of walking boots cost 110£ only worn twice , I offered them at 20£ and someone offered me less , I could tell by their approach they were some kind of dealer and would put them up for sale again .
I declined their offer and im giving to a charity .

I’ve been posting on Freegle for years. Most people are very appreciative of freebies which they can’t afford to buy, but, yes you do get the occasional re-seller which does annoy me. If I wanted to make money from the item I’d be selling it. The idea of Freegle is to help those people who can’t afford to buy it, don’t take it if you don’t want it… and certainly don’t re-sell
