Yes, as it 'appens, I do have a proper New Year’s Resolution
My knowledge of, and skill with, computers is very limited - I can Surf t’Net and post simple replies on forums, and that’s about it
Also I was reasonable enough with photography when it was 35mm film, but I never took to digital
So years ago when I moved into this flat I bought a computer, a Dummies book or two, then later a digital camera
My intention was to treat it like a job and learn – Huh!
After I’d learned the basics I didn’t bother any more, and I bet I’ve put about 6 pictures through my camera in 4 years
Then my computer became very slow & clunky, and it was in any case Windows 7, so I bought a new one and more books, but still haven’t done much with them
So that’s my Resolution, to really make an effort in 2022, and also see what the local photographic club has to offer
I’d like to be able to post pictures on Forums, and all the other stuff; I keep telling myself it can’t be that difficult surely? Lots of people do it
And a couple more -
Keep on top of the diabetes, my control is good at the moment
Make some progress with Tai Chi
I love New Year, it’s always significant and special to me.
I like to reflect and ‘course I make resolutions.
Apparently you stand a better chance of sticking with it if you break them down into small things.
So instead of “I will lose weight” and “I will get fit” go with small things like “I’ll stop taking sugar in my coffee” and “I’ll do 15 minutes on the exercise bike every day”
A couple of fun ones my friend and I are doing:
Stand on one leg while you brush your teeth. It’s supposed to be like tai chi and improve your balance!
Get up from your chair or sofa without holding onto anything. It helps if you fold your arms and shout “Hoi!” cossack style
And everyday to get down on the floor and get up again. The ultimate aim is to be able to do it without holding on but that’s a bit optimist! But just being able to get up and down is supposed to be very good for maintaining your mobility
What a good way to make New Year Resolutions Maree, I must try that, I don’t usually make any because I know I won’t keep them. Breaking them down into bite-sized pieces might just work for me. I like the balance ones too because as I get older my balance is getting much worse. Thank you for some great ideas!
I forgot setting a daily intention, it’s an idea I picked up from somewhere, can’t remember where
Instead of a resolution that’s got to last a whopping whole year, in the morning you set out an intention for the day. They don’t have to be too serious or a to do list, although they can be
Things like “today I’m going to be patient with Uncle Ted and not kill him” “Today I’m going to make a healthy lunch” “Today I’m going to phone my mate”
I find it works rather well, so that’s going to be one of my New Years Resolutions, setting an intention every morning!
