That’s so true

Percy, we are still waiting for our windows we ordered them in May too…they came and installed some of the order but the arched georgian windows are still waiting…apparently its glass that is in short supply My company has kept us informed though so I’m sort of OK with it…I would be annoyed if they were ignoring me.

That’s what we were told by a contractor we’ve got on board for another job. However, it doesn’t mean the window company can’t pick up the sodding phone and call to tell us that, surely?

Yes that would annoy me too…luckily the company I’m using are good at keeping me posted …so I’m patiently waiting but I have to admit its too long a wait :frowning:

I think I’ve found a bricklayer to rebuild my gateposts and garden wall, he tells me it will be the spring next year…I’ll take that, having being let down by 8 other bricklayers previously…
:brick:

My builders won’t start till after Xmas either…depending on the weather they said so fingers crossed we have a mild winter

Well, that’s it. The :poop: has really hit the fan this morning. I’ve done some deep digging on t’internet and V’s done some phoning :phone: around and we’ve discovered the barsteward went bust last Friday. Now we’re £1.2k out of pocket - that was the deposit we paid which we’ll have to try and recover through our bank.

I’m sorry for you Percy . What a rotten thing to happen

Sorry to hear that Percy…

I pressed “like” not because I like what has happened to you obviously, but in this case as a commiseration.
It’s an awful thing to happen to anybody.

I’m so sorry Percy…thats such a bad thing to happen so annoying!!

Sorry to hear that, did you pay with a credit card ?

So the scaffolders arrived Monday fitters were soon after, the fitter’s have been brilliant and done a good job, but, there’s always a but , the link man to the company is a complete waste, on the site survey the wife asked for scaffolding to be able for us to paint, nope this wasn’t passed on, they’re unable to alter it for three weeks because of other commitments, staff ill with covid. The link man promised to phone the wife, he texted instead with the info about the scaffolding, not happy with him is the wife. We just hope the back door turns out alright when it arrives.

No, it was a direct bank-to-bank transfer.

Is it difficult to reclaim monies this way ?

Things are moving on the windows front! It looks like the company has been taken over pro tem by someone, we don’t know who yet while the original owner is in dock recovering from severe mental health issues (apparently he’s in total incommunicado for the next several weeks), the sales manager (who we were contacting - 🤔 driving round the wall more like 😆) every few days has left the company (sacked?). A new project manager has been appointed and all current orders, etc are being sorted out and prioritised. So far, from these new people we’ve had 3 emails and 2 phone calls in 2½ days - far, far better than the total lack of communication from the original owner and the sales manager when we were driving the communications forward. More news, hopefully good, on Monday.

If you do cancel, give tripe glazing a thought. We installed triple glazing and the savings heat-wise has been definitely noticeable. Also the solar gain from even slightly overcast skies has been astonishing. The sealed units are somewhat deeper in width, but it’s the plastic retaining beads that have a reduced profile, so the complete window does not look any thicker.

We already have but discounted it because of the vast increase in cost. If we do go with another company I will ask about it as an option.
