Great Longfellow, just great.
Being a bit cheeky here, would you consider putting up
“Piaf, je ne regretted rien” ?;-)
Glad to be of service Apricot.
Good job I read French init…
Nicked this info off youtube as well.
Piaf dedicated her recording of the song to the French Foreign Legion. At the time of the recording, France was engaged in a military conflict, the Algerian War (1954–1962), and the 1st REP (1st Foreign Parachute Regiment) — which backed a temporary putsch of 1961 by the French military against the civilian leadership of Algeria — adopted the song when their resistance was broken. The leadership of the Regiment was arrested and tried but the non-commissioned officers, corporals and Legionnaires were assigned to other Foreign Legion formations. They left the barracks singing the song, which has now become part of the French Foreign Legion heritage and is sung when they are on parade.
Aw thanks Longfellow.
I just love that song so much. {am going to ask them to play it at my funeral} [no kiddin"]
Daft bat eh!
It was good of you to post the info also, very interesting.
Trust an Essex Boy to come up with the goods.
I lived in Essex for about 14 years and just loved it , would go back in a heartbeat if it were possible.
Was sorry to leave.
:-)
Interesting
Apricot only lived in Essex for about 12 yrs now moved here from Sarf East London lived there for about 30yrs before that born in Yorkshire and stayed in Durham and Nottinghamshire for short periods.
Suffolk is nice got a sister in law in Harwich very open and if you were used to a close community I can understand why you would move back here.
I think Essex will do me now although the kids are still back in London with their families and work.
Although my boy is now in Nigeria until March opening the first IMAX in the country. Might see him Christmas hopefully.
Great selection there Longfellow.
