My Introduction

Hi! Lovely to see someone from S.Africa! I lived in Verwoerdburg, in the Transvaal (Gauteng) for a while in the 80’s, still miss it![w]12[/w]

Hi Char, and welcome.

Hello and welcome to the forum

Hello to everybody and thank you so much for the warm welcome! My apologies for not getting back to everybody personally, but my online time is rather limited. Thanks again and best wishes to all for a happy evening.

Wow, now there’s a thing! I don’t know Verwoerdburg (I’m originally from Cape Town). Great to meet up here and thanks for the pics!

Hi Char…Namib?..anything to do with southwest Africa?..was there on the change over with the United Nations…H

435, UNTAG? Wow, how nice to meet someone who’s been there! Yes, the very same old SWA!

I was with the British contingent doing communications…I mostly worked with UNHCR in Oshikata and ondangwa…fantastic country…hell of a lot of respect to the South African Army…top soldiers…H

My niece and family live in Cape Town for years, now in Dubai.
When I was there I worked for CNA, S.A. Defence Force (Kentron) and a lovely little craft shop called El Rene.

Thank you for your kind comment, you bring a tear to my eye. My father served in the Royal Navy (Mediterranean) and my mother in the RAF (Algeria). I LOVE Nambia, the quiet, the long views, more animals than people! Oshikati and Ondongwa, right up there where all the action was. Amazing country. Thank you again.
