My Internet Lover!

Don’t be shy.Liverpool used to be called the capital of Ireland.

Yes I knows that and one of my step uncles was in fact Irish but still don’t make me Irish - Liverpool was a hotpotch a smorgasbord - a cauldron ; and effusion : a mishmash of wots iz names!

 when did you leave?

leave ? leave where??

Liverpool.

in me youth?

**I Just called to thank you for the memories **

I just called to thank you for the memories
And ask you where you think it went astray
Were we in some chauvinistic turmoil
Were the shots are called and I always got my way?

We brought together both our family models
Threw them in the melting pot, said that should work
But although we tried so hard, good results right at the start
It didn’t seem to last out very far

I think we traded in romance for a quick start family chance
Didn’t spend the time exploring - ‘work together’
The roles were set; you clean; I get
Till death; divorce will part for worst or better

You ran a tidy home, cared for kids until full grown
To the outside world a dutifully wife
But the die had long been cast
This sham just will not last; the vow will not withstand ‘until we die’

Without romance there is naught
We had lost original thought
And were playing out
The remnants of a truce

I do not apportion blame
If asked to do the same
A second time around
Would play it different

We would need more time for us
Explore the minuses and the plus
The kids can wait another day
Another time

Marriages are not built on kids
They come later without rush
And are second to a blushing bride
I think we realized

Much later and surmised
That we had to go back
Do ‘romance’ again
And although we tried so hard

It just kept falling all apart
We just didn’t know how to get it all together
But hey
There was some fun along the way

This wasn’t all despair; dismay
We had some laughs and kicked our heels a time or two
But in the final call
We thought family did it all

And didn’t put enough of you and me
To have a firm, strong base
We have to build it face to face
And let the rest just fall all into line

Could we do it all again
Who knows where
Or who knows when?
But if lessons have been learnt this time around

Then maybe it would work
With more effort and less shirk
And this would be let’s swim and not let’s drown

I like that.

I can tell you the exact date I was last in Liverpool.3Feb1959.

1957 or thereabouts

I was there then too.An aunt lived there and I went for my summer holidays every year.
I remember the 3 feb date because Buddy Holly died while I was there.

you where were? you are confusing me with the wheres and wherefores??

Doh! L i v e r p o o l

yes but where where you going from and to?etc

Speke. no,I’m not telling you to talk,it’s a place.

I’m beginning to suspect you are taking the P

nah nah I used to go to school in Speke quite a nice suburb but not really Liverpool heh more an outer suburb wez were in the heart a 20mins walk from the Pier head

Well it was nearer to Liverpool than Cardiff where I lived most of the year
As a small boy I was fascinated by the river and always wanted to be on the ferry. They were the best holidays I had.

yes I did “ferry across the Mersey” quite often - very quick trip to reach say the Wirral Peninsula but for children it was magic because often there was sand over there!

And the fair ground at New Brighton.
