Good photos Bretrick, isn’t that first one a perfect description of life in the 21st century…

Sure is. All three are on their mobiles. :slightly_smiling_face:

I pass a bus stop on my regular morning walk and at certain times all the schoolkids are waiting for the bus. They look between 12 and 16 and the picture is always the same, lined up along the wall, nothing spoken, and everyone’s attention being occupied by their own little screen.
Occasionally there will be a forty or fifty something person waiting, and I have never once seen them with a mobile phone in their hand…This is our future Bret…

Very prevalent when I am on the train/bus. I counted two days ago on the bus, 19 passengers, 14 were looking at their phone. Those that were not were over 50.

Mobile phones are wonderous things when used in the right context. I use mine all the time when I’m looking for stuff and see something to take a pic of. But they can also a curse and the root of many problems, such as kids and social media and open to all sorts of abuse. Its difficult to go anywhere and not see someone on their phone, playing some brainless game, or wandering around like a zombie not paying attention to anything around them (especially crossing the road.) I really would support a ban on phones in the classroom. Kids don’t seem to want to do anything if there’s not an app on their phone to do it for them.

One of my pet hates is going into a cafe/coffee shop and being forced to listen to someone else’s conversation because they insist on having the speaker on. If it’s not conversation, its some YouTube vid - and I find older people guilty of doing this along with not having the manners to go outside or use earbuds or similar.

I am going on a few cruises this year and one thing I don’t do is use the phone. Partially because I won’t pay the extortionate WiFi prices, but mostly I want to get away from everything online and enjoy myself. I may turn it on for a few minutes a day just to make sure there’s nothing important I need to see, but then it goes off and stays off (with the exception of taking pics)
