Interesting facts

The road to success.

The Romans were prolific road builders, but there is no evidence in the UK that they ever named any of the roads they built.

Road names started to appear during the Anglo-Saxon period, but were invariably named just “Something” Street, or Something-Else" Way.

Most roads in the UK were named by the Victorians.

Road numbers started to appear curtesy of the Ministry of Transport around the 1920s.

A mister McAdam came up with a most excellent method of using multiple layers of 1 inch compacted stone to make roads.
Later, a mister Hooley came up with an idea to improve the McAdam method by mixing the stone with tar, which is from whence we get the term, Tar-McAdam, or tarmac.

Hamburgers are made from beef, not ham. Nobody is really sure how they got their name, but it’s possibly named after Hamburg, Germany, or even Hamburg, USA where it’s thought the tasty yet nutritious dish may have originated.

I have just discovered the KFC Zinnger Box. Well, I bought it once in Cowra but will buy it again.

My only complaint about KFC is their lack of drink selection - I hate Pepsi and Coke, dislike most fizzy drinks so it tends to be apple or orange juice or “Give it to the people in the car behind”. Why can’t they do tea, coffee or milkshake?

Just look at all those yummy kilojoules!

identical twins don’t have the same fingerprints**. You can’t blame your crimes on your twin, after all. This is because environmental factors during development in the womb (umbilical cord length, position in the womb, and the rate of finger growth) impact your fingerprint.
