While we’re on a minor sidetrack, have you noticed just how many “celebs” there are that are still going strong in their 80s and 90s, acting, doing gigs and concerts etc. I’m sure this wasn’t so prevalent even a few years ago.
Number one is world peace. The world is in a similar state now as when I came into it.
Number two is health and happiness to all my family and friends.
We will never know, if they have their own teeth. its been years since I witrnessed a toothless pensioner ![]()
This is a great answer! Making wishes come true, yes definitely!
If so many people would wish for world peace, why isn’t there?
How would it work? All the nationalities and religions rub together happily?
The rich and the poor?
The young testerone filled youths would be bored…
In a nutshell Foxy!
For a start, religions would need some serious adjustments and a common language would go a looooooong way to producing mutual alignment.
Are you talking a one world government and even a one world religion LongDriver, it’s always the differences that cause trouble. If we were all the same there shouldn’t be any trouble.
I’m not being pedantic here, I just think that before making wishes one should consider the realities and results of such a demand. Wishes are in fact selfish dreams, even if you don’t wish for personal benefits yourself, you are effectively removing a persons freedoms and imposing your own.
Ah, but foxy, ones wishes will be a product of how our own freedoms have been affected by others. It’s the butterfly effect once again.
Well, after browsing this topic I shall think twice about wishing anyone a Merry Christmas!
Who knows what horrors I might unleash! ![]()

For me it would be a world without diseases and armed conflicts.
Seems to be top of the list Dachs, probably because it is the most improbable.
Should we not confuse the removal of freedoms with the rules that allow us to rub together happily and tolerate each other. As we introduce more diversity, so we must introduce more laws and rules.
Arguably, we should actually reduce the number of rules and laws foxy.
I agree Dex. something I saw on the telly was the amount of new laws passed each year by the government was phenomenal and surprising. Some were passed while the public was looking the other way.
Labels such as Racism, Homophobia, Misogyny, Antisemitism, Islamophobia, were rarely heard 50 years ago but seem to fill news media on a daily basis and seems to perpetuate hate towards these groups…
Exactly. The more you tell people what they can and can’t do, the more they’ll fight it, especially if it seems unreasonable.
Not at all, Bob. As wishes didn’t have to relate to degrees of likelihood, I just picked those that would really make a difference and which are the most important to me. They would be different if the likelihood of them coming true mattered.
Be careful, think three times!
Wishing OGF a “Have yourself a Merry Christmas” he may see Mary instead,
and take you up on that thought. ![]()
His answers on the flirting thread are leading me to this. ![]()
Wouldn’t wishing to win the lottery or finding a gold nugget be important to you Dachs?
Sometimes you have to be a bit selfish and indirectly, all my family and friends would benefit.
