I was born in the fifties and named Robert

Robert Downey jr. Very fond of the two Sherlock Holmes films with Jude Law as Watson.
Maybe Bob The Builder!

Ah yes, the bent copper in ‘The Godfather’ but I didn’t realise just how many movie’s he starred in…

Surprised not to see ‘The Godfather’ listed?

I doubt it my father had an aversion to TV, we only got one when I was about 16, I only saw TV at friends or my grans.

Funny thing when I was a pre teen I never met or heard of anyone with my name. Bruce only seemed popular as a dog’s name. Then a boy called Bruce moved into my street we were destined to become friends and I grew to actually like my name.

I bet he’s a nice bloke when you get to know him Chilli…

We went up to Scotland for a touring holiday back in 2000 it was my 50th birthday and Mrs Fox got me a surprise stay in the Arisaig Hotel.
It was one of the locations for our favourite film (Local Hero) but when we arrived we learned about the link to Robert Louis Stevenson’s father and the link with Long John Silver and Treasure island.
Arisaig

I love watching ‘Mortimer and Whitehouse’ (Gone Fishing) a couple of blokes with heart trouble finding a new life on the riverbank…

Local Hero is an utterly charming film Foxy!
And I don’t mean that in a saccharine kind of way.
It’s one that tends to slip under the radar…

I’ll be checking out Amazon for a hard copy later :slightly_smiling_face:

And yes, it’s not just about the fishing, coming to terms the cards that have been dealt, gently done…

Mrs Fox and me loved Local Hero when we first saw it, it just seems so honest and relevant and the music was brill…In fact, during our tour of the highlands Mark Knopfler was never off our ‘in car’ CD player.
Mortimer and Whitehouse…Don’t they come out with some stuff…I feel so relaxed just watching them and the scenery is breathtaking.
And Ted the dog is star of the show…

Interestingly Robert Millar - a famous professional cyclist - was born in 1958. Struggling with gender dysphoria is now Phillipa York and so could be included in another of the recent threads on this forum. She covered up this problem throughout her professional career!

Sorry Mr Smith, I forgot to answer this one…
Bob Dylan one of my very best singer songwriters, especially fond of his album ‘Desire’ which I still listen too regularly.

@greengage I had to look Philippa up on google, and I realise I watched him on the tour back in 1984 and more recently commentating on the tour. I was mixing him up with David Millar.
She certainly makes a good looking woman…
