No Bans Imposed: Reporters without renewed hard passes retained access via day passes, with only one formal denial issued.

In 2023 under President Joe Biden, the White House changed policies for journalists to receive a “hard pass,” which allows them unaccompanied access to the White House’s press areas. The yearly passes expired in July that year, and journalists were told they had to reapply under a new set of criteria.
The new criteria included that they be employed by a news organization, have a physical address in the greater Washington, D.C. area and have accessed the White House for work at least once in the past six months.
About 500 fewer reporters had the hard pass as a result, but none were banned from covering the White House. Many did not reapply and those who did could apply for day passes, which mandate they be escorted to the White House’s press areas.

At the UN meeting, cameras caught the other delegates forced to shake his hand out of politeness because he wouldn’t walk away from them. Then, they turned their heads away and rolled their eyes! Now, that’s live moments on cameras from international networks.
