I need a new CH boiler

No worries mate and if you need further help, just PM me

Although I have been out of the game for a few years now, Glowworm didn’t have a good reputation. Naturally, things might have changed by now and yes, they are owned by Vaillant. I would definitely ask friends and neighbours of their boiler choice and do some Google searching on boiler reviews.

:023::023:

Do agree.

Would get a Vaillant.

We have a Vaillant, 15 years old and still going strong.

The sone of a friend of mine is a heating engineer. He has fitted Vaillant boilers for years now because they rarely go wrong.

The thing is d00d, if you are replacing a Bosch with a GlowWorm, the pipe centres are probably different and may require some extensive pipework.
Perhaps Gasman might know more about that and if it’s worth considering…Over to you Gasman…

The one at our previous house did!
Mind you, it had been there since Jebus was a boy.

Two years’ ago I had to have a complete new central heating system installed to replace the very old, unreliable one that had been here since 1972.

The company that installed the new one recommended a Worcester Bosch boiler as it was good and reliable. True enough it’s very good and keeps the house very warm. This company used to install Valliant but due to problems with them they stopped fitting them and now only install Worcester Bosch. There is also the seven-year warranty on this make which is very good for the installers and customers. It’s Worcester Bosch engineers who come out and rectify any problems, often within hours, I am advised they have engineers all over the country.

The installers had been servicing the old boiler for ten years so they got the job of the new installation. Three of them worked like Trojans to first take out the old system, including the old copper cylinder and all pipework. They then installed a new boiler, new pipework to 12 new radiators in a three-bedroom detached house. All done and working in four days. Well pleased with their work too, so clean and tidy you wouldn’t know they had been working in the house for four days.

That could be true OGF and it would be good to know what exact model of Worcester d00d’s is. Also, some older combi’s had a 15mm gas supply and the modern boilers require at least 22mm. That is because modern combi’s burn more gas for a shorter period to deliver hot water as quickly as possible.

That’s true Gasman, when we had a new Worcester Bosch fitted it had to have new 22mm gas pipe back to the meter cupboard. Since having it fitted 4 years ago we’ve not had a spot of bother with it, it heats up the rads super quick, and even provides a piping hot large volume shower. In fact, the shower is so good it works better than when it was a pumped shower…It carries a seven year guarantee and I would recommend Worcester Bosch unreservedly. The model we have was even manufactured in the UK…

Nice one  In reality, most modern combi’s nowadays should be manufactured to a high standard and last more than 5 years. There are certain makes of boiler that, in the past, I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole, especially Saunier Duval and Ocean - mainly because they were cheap, nasty, prone to leak/break down and a pain in the 'arris to work on.However, times have changed and they have become more reliable. The main reasons why I like Vaillant is ease of maintainance and reliability. I always found the modern WB’s horrible to work on.

We had endless problems with a vaillant.

OMG … you didn’t have much luck with a worcester bosch either. So what’s you favorite boiler?

Someone’s trying to sell me a Baxi! Never heard of them

The worcester Bosch is so far so good and their accredited fitter was fabulous. Came out between Christmas and New year to change the boiler. Turned out the vailant had been leaking at the condenser outlet so that it was impossible to spot where the water was going as it was turning to steam before you could spot it. But the water was gushing out because the guy who moved the expansion tank downstairs left the valve closed.

Definitely :023:

Yes, we have a Gloworm ultracom 24 hxi fitted 12 yrs ago,no probs,he’s says hoping not to upset the boiler gremlin.

It’s like everything else mate, you can buy a brand new car and it might break down in the first week. As long as the boilers are serviced every year, then there (hopefully) shouldn’t be any problems.

Totally agree,I’m in the keep it serviced league.
Pays your money takes your choice.

Same here; A stitch in time is my motto…

Ditto.
