Must say that the way it operates is detrimental to all the businesses that use it as their web site.
I was thinking about going somewhere different for breakfast this morning and noticed many businesses had Facebook as their only point of contact.
Well we all know that one can view the first page of Facebook without being a member, but any further is out of bounds to non members.
What a backward way of doing business. There would be so many non members unable to view menus and the like that the business will not get their cash.
Case in Point, I was looking at a particular business which I thought I might visit though because I was unable to view their menu I will not be going there to spend my money.
What a crazy business model. The businesses are doing themselves a disservice by using Facebook as their only point of contact.
This is not how Facebook started out, was it?
I thought it was to connect people, all over the world.
Now it is what? Add your own thoughts…
But we all want to know what’s happening in Maccas
Sorry,I don’t do Facebook.
I don’t do Facebook either.
It was just that I was looking to find a breakfast place and so many of them only have Facebook as their only point of contact.
Crazy in my book.
Yes,cafes can’t afford to be exclusive.
Maybe they can. With so many people with disposable income the businesses are doing okay.
Which means that they might be close to capacity as it is and loss of trade via Facebook interface is not an issue.
Hi
I only use Facebook for Marketplace and a few specialist groups.
I cannot understand why the rest of it is so banal.
It is banal because so many people are banal and shallow?
Some folks use it because they want to “Reunite with Friends”, now there’s a thought.
Very old skool…
Good fun though!
It was the start of the bullshit
You’re correct up to a point.
Sometimes we can look at things in isolation.
Would you say that this forum is bullshit?
There is an element of Bullshit in most things, it is an essential element of communication in any form of exchange, as per FR, like most folks I guess, I was amazed to learn that all the scumbag peers that shared school times had all become entrepreneurs
It annoys me too, as i don’t have Facebook. In the case such as yours I would go to trip advisor. Some people take photos of the menu and post it on there.
Once you have seen one Big Mac, you have seen them all!
There is a lot of garbage on Facebook, which is why I only use it to message people I know and when I want information about something from the few groups I’ve joined. Other than that, its not worth the time.
Very true, as with any and all of online social media. Most have gotten bored with the turn of AI and the fake posts and reels.
It does allow you to see the few real posts of friends, their vacations, celebrations, etc.
Having said that, five minutes a day is plenty for me. And no X, instagram, bluesky or other wasted efforts.
Last time I was on facebook I got banned from the page of one group.
I ticked them off and they didn’t like it.
