Bums should be scrupulously clean before they even see a towel Abbey…
Yes they should but still wouldn’t want a towel which has been anywhere near even a clean bum near my face
Have you heard about OCD ?
Think Howard Hughs
Not to mention how damaging it is for the planet to do so much washing ?
A bit of bacteria is good OGF
We are all covered in bacteria the world is make up of bacteria .
Yes I know Muddy, and I agree with you. We are probably exposing ourselves to more danger from the disinfectants than we are from the bacteria they are meant to kill.
Mum used to wash all our towels and tea towels at 60 degrees with a bit of wash powder. when you think of all the chemicals they add to the wash these days and then pour it down the drain, it can’t be good for the environment. And that includes dishwashers. I would think the extra energy required to heat the water is the least of our pollution problems.
Indeed there are …
I don’t know how often towels should be changed.
I change mine everyday along with T towels and the dish sponge .
I would love clean sheets everyday however I wash the bedlinen once a week, more frequently in hot weather.
Crisp clean Egyptian cotton sigh …heavenly
Seems you and I have similar tastes
I knew I couldn’t be the only one
Good to know there are others like me out there
I hope not daily washing is totally unnecessary !
I wash the bed linen once a week ( cotton only can’t stand any artificial fibres )
Towels once a week .
If it’s sunny I do hang them out to dry after use .
Tea towels twice a week I don’t do much drying anyway just leave the dishes to air dry .
I wash my teatowels every three days or more frequently if I’ve used them to dry my bum.
What, drys your bum?
anything I might request darlings!! - it’s quite inclusive!
And me…
Not dropping in for coffee at your house
Probably once a week, but some have only been used once when they are washed (they go into the laundry basket). I don’t think tea towels are hygienic washed or not. They are handy for putting on a tray under plates and cups of tea to mop up spills, or for outdoor tables as table coverings for a civilised al fresco experience. But I’ve never understood the need to dry dishes with a piece of cloth that several people may have touched since washing.
They do say that tea towels have more germs on them than the toilet seat .
( after reading some posts here I am not surprised )
From reading the latest comments, let me be crystal clear - I don’t mix my bath towels, hand towels and tea towels.
Each person in the house at any given time gets their own bath towels.
No sharing of bath towels and I don’t mind wiping my behind with the same bath towel because I know that I’ve done a good job cleaning my bodies nooks and crannies
