How much has your water bill gone up by?

Mine has gone up by 34.5%.

You can work out the percentage with this formula:

[(New rate - Original rate) / Original rate] * 100 = Percentage Increase

New rate minus original rate
Divide that by the original rate
Times it by 100
= % increase

It’s come down :grinning:
I discovered I was entitled to a discount which knocked £43 a month off the bill.
Anyone on Pension Credits take noe.

My water bill is always between $60 and $70 a quarter including sewage and stormwater management and pensioner discount. It will only go up if the dam levels fall below 60%

Currently water is $2.67 per kilolitre but if the dam levels fall below 60% it will go up to $3.61 per kilolitre until dam levels are back to 70% then it will drop back to $2.67.

I wouldn’t have calculated it but since you’re asking I did: It’s gone up by 48% and is likely to keep rising. Last year I paid 2410 € compared to 1622 € the year before.

Our bill last year was 30 or 40 euro higher than the year before - but that was because of a slow leak on my outside tap. That’s been fixed so I’m hoping our bill comes back down to the 230 euro mark. The joy of a publicly owned utility.

we are so so poor we have to wait until it rains so our water is coming down not going up. :umbrella:

This is my rate

Monthly Base Rate: $75.00
Water Usage (0-15,000 gallons): $7.05 per 1,000 gallons
Water Usage (15,001-30,000 gallons): $7.30 per 1,000 gallons
Water Usage (30,001 gallons and up): $7.55 per 1,000 gallons

Am I understanding that some of you only pay water once a year?

Mine is monthly an is always below $100 a month

What are water charges in Ireland? Uisce Éireann (previously known as Irish Water) supplies water connection, supply, and wastewater services in Ireland. At the moment, domestic customers don’t have to pay charges for Water Supply and Wastewater services if they don’t exceed their Annual Allowance .

in the 40years i have lived here i have never paid any water charges.

If there’s plenty, those in charge can be generous. Water in Ireland is like oil in Saudi Arabia, one should think.
You are saying “at the moment” people don’t have to pay, which implies there have been times when they had to pay. How come that you haven’t been charged in 40 years? Are you an exception?

We’re billed once a year but make monthly advance payments.

Legislation has been put in place which allows Uisce Éireann to apply Excess Use Charges when a household exceeds the Annual Allowance. Things to note:

  • The threshold is set at more than 1.7 the average household amount of 125,000 litres per year
  • You’ll only have to pay the charge if your household uses more than 213,000 litres (213m³) of water per year

i got no idea how many litres a year i use but must be under the allowance

Mine is the same frequency as my electricity bill, the meter is read every three months and billed accordingly

I get billed on Electricity every month here and it runs around $80 in the winter and $120 in the summer.

The Electricity and water are ready monthly (two different companies) they just drive up to the gate and get it via wifi or something.

Out here we don’t pay for sewage because I use a septic tank with a leach field. It only needs emptied/pumped every 10 years or so. That around $1500 to empty.

Up here in Aberdeenshire our water and sewerage is included in our Council tax bill. This year our water payment is £339.68 and £394.13 for sewerage.

Interesting Scot…
Many years ago our water bills were included in the general rate bill, the £854 I paid this year was more than the combined amount of both bills back then.
In 2000 I paid just £164 water bill…

I think what you are saying is that the privatisation of water companies has successfully lined the pockets of shareholders, company directors and the banks providing the huge loans.
