UK based then take advantage of the ISA and tax free allowance.

Personally I invest in shares but you do need some awareness of how stocks and shares work.

I also use some funds and try and ensure I have a mix of investments

Also hold cash

Mindyou, the way the UK is going with the bash street kids in charge, you might as well spend your money.
