I was invited to go to India for a Hindu wedding and was to stay with the bridegroomā€™s family who did not speak any English. It seemed only polite for me to learn some Hindi before I went there. So I arranged some private lessons with an Indian professor at university. I was not so good with the devenagari script - but OK with spoken Hindi.
