Christmas Day I am going to the Dryandra Woodlands. About a two hour drive south east of Perth.
This is one of only two places where the Numbat resides as an original population.
There are thought to be 400 numbats in this area.
With luck, and a few hours observation, I will be able to video a Numbat or two

So fascinating, Bruce! Is that a protected area, so their numbers can recover? I am envious of your Christmas plans!
As for the next three days, I would think it would be more likely to see a numbat along the coastline, wearing a bikini, and grasping a bottle of sunscreen

(Bretrick) The Dryandra Woodlands is not a protected area. Open woodland.
There are a few fenced, predator eradicated areas. Karakamia Sanctuary, Boyagin, Tutanning, Batalling, Dragon Rocks, Mount Gibson Sanctuary.
All these fenced area have had the Numbats reintroduced.
There are thought to be no more than 1 thousand Numbats left in Australia (the world)
My cousin is Perth and it is very cold this evening - about 3C …
