Has Farage made too many (greedy) mistakes?

Sorry kids but entrapment is not a defense in UK law. It is considered an inappropriate action by law enforcement if they induce someone to commit a crime where otherwise they would not. In that situation a case could not be brought. However, if there is evidence of existing intent and reasonable suspicion of further intent then this is a permissible tactic and charges may be brought.
Consider the vigilante enticing the grubby old man by pretending to be a young kid on line. Consider the police pretending to be a new source of drugs to a known drug dealer. Are you saying these sort of entrapments are completely wrong?
And note the need for existing intent. It could happen to you but only if you have existing intent. I don’t so I’m not expecting it to happen to me. It is very obvious that Reform UK had existing intent.

For all we know, the only reason that the reform members allegedly considered this as an option may have been because the journo’s sold it to them in a particular way. And therein lies the rub.

Yes, that’s true. The reporters said they were American. And wanted to give Reform half a million. And actually did give & had accepted £30k. You can see how the Reform muppets were duped by this. Smoke and mirrors mate, all seemed legit to me, honest guv.

I’m saying the vigilante should be classed as illegal, what if he gets the situation wrong? As has happened in the past with people being wrongly accused.
The police on the other hand are officials hired to uphold the law and should do adequate investigations before charging a suspect.
Who among us have not made claims and accusations in private, to friends or family but probably changed their minds when new evidence came to light. Thinking about something and talking to a friend in confidence is not the same as doing…

Where is the similarity from this to what Reform UK have done?

No, this was a transaction they willingly entered into, they were proactive so not entrapment

And it wasn’t against the rules at the time.
So you are saying that should a party come along that you support you would accept them being hounded by self appointed busybodies observing trial by media?
But it’s alright if you don’t support them.
These are the acts of a controlled state and we should all be against this kind of bias and underhanded snooping. Let the police do their job.

You are so missing the point. The Farage line is (again) about being the victim. He is 100% the victim here so it must be entrapment. This line works - see many posts above. See also why he had to resign - victim of the establishment (for forcing him to admit that he was forced to accept £5m). See also Brexit failure - victim of the establishment (for enabling about as hard a Brexit imaginable which was obviously a remainer’s Brexit even though anyone can name dozens of things that make it a hard Brexit). See also GBNews earnings (victim of, err, not sure, but somehow he was forced to accept a multi-million earning role to get paid promoting himself and his party).
Victim. Remember that. It makes Farage and his fans easier to understand. And as a victim he deserves understanding, privacy and a nice pot of tea. Not accusations and investigations. Have you no compassion (for the millionaire serial liar)?

You know you had me sympathising with the guy and wringing my hands at the despicable persecution and unfairness of it all until I got to the end I realised you were been droll.

I don’t really care about all of that. I just like Reform’s policies and will vote for them because none of the other parties can offer me what I think the country really needs.
Although I am warming to Kemi Badenoch, perhaps another Margaret Thatcher in the making?

I very much doubt it Foxy
Regardless of our opinions on Margaret Thatcher Kemi Badenoch doesn’t appear to have the gravitas and resolve that Thatcher had, not a smidgen!

I agree … she often appears out of her depth and carrys the aura of a sixth form Prefect. No personal authority.

I grudgingly admit that Farage has it …even if it’s the weasely kind.

Lets state the obvious Kemi has no handbag in sight, that was a prop for Maggie :icon_wink: :+1:
