Guilty and wriggling like an eel in a net that he wove himself.
It’s certainly backfired on him … where he can go from here will be interesting.
Byelections seem to be becoming a new trend,
There is precedent for resigning as an MP in order create the need for a by election … and then standing in that election. In 2008 David Davies, then shadow home secretary, did exactly this. The difference is that Davis did so in protest about the perceived erosion of civil liberties from the new anti-terrorism act. This was an important principle to Davis and his by-election campaign focused on publicising this risk.
This time round, Farage has resigned and announced his standing in a by-election, for the principle of (insert variety of possible / not applicable principles here).
So it’s okay to have the establishment invent some dubious activity to blacken his name?
Strange how the only party (reform) is a major threat to the conventional politics and then this happens…
Everyone moans about the stagnation of politics and then listens to the tripe and propaganda that the media, aided by the establishment, dishes out, and then starts doubting the only party and possible leader that has the power to change everything. You deserve everything that the government foists upon you.
He should be electorally punished for resigning, forcing a by election, then standing again. He should have said, “mea culpa, I didn’t know those were the rules”, instead of flouncing off and acting like a spoilt child.
The man is an idiot or very poorly advised.
Hi Morti
Count Binface was on BBC this morning.
He is not as stupid as many may think,he was astute, convincing, intelligent and above all very witty.
I think he could get a surprising number of votes.
He certainly left the BBC Presenters speechless.
He Is certainly very funny.
There hasn’t been a prime minister since the great Margaret Thatcher that hasn’t put their own financial situation before the needs of the people. And Blair was probably the worst of them all. They make Farage look like the great redeemer.
Farage had enough readies already, he should have rejected any more in preparation for public office ![]()
Or has he been set up by the establishment Spitty?
People don’t realise what lengths the establishment will go to to remove all challengers.
You can only be set up, if you start grabbing, publicly.
Invent? I don’t think so.
But he’s trying to play the loveable, popular maverick, just like he did in his old pre-Brexit days … except he’s no longer a maverick so it doesn’t work now…
He was an elected MP and now part of the establishment he has to answer to if he wants to clear his name of any association with corruption.
I think he’s been an idiot and they’ve called his bluff. I’m still trying to figure what he thought he would gain by doing this.
Hi
I have seen the Establishment at work, it is not a pretty sight.
I would categorise them as a bunch of self serving, unprincipled back stabbing gits.
They inhabit a different world to the rest of us, the cost of living is something which happens to others, not them.
Farage has done his job, Politics will not be the same again.
The old, cosy, two Party system has gone, replaced by a five party system.
I cannot fault him for doing that, he has done us a great favour.
He is also something of a Prat taking gifts like Boris and Starmer.
Snouts in the trough.
Good post Swim…

I wonder if he resigned to keep Reform alive and not drag them down with these allegations.
I will certainly vote for them come the next local and general elections, with or without Farage at the helm…
I struggle with the idea that Farage presents any credibility at all, he never has!
He got us out of the EU Chilli and proved what a bunch of liars and scoundrels they are.
He was certainly instrumental in that respect Foxy, doesn’t make him legit though?
Meat on the bones, policies …I doubt it!
Promising it would all be so much better. Of course the reality is now proven that it is very far from so much better out of the EU. It is in fact quite a lot worse. How do all those empty and now evidently fake promises from Nigel help bolster his credibility?
She wasn’t great, she created most of the problems the UK now has to deal with. But that is an aside. As is a quick mention of the money making efforts she embarked on after being PM.
This argument (all senior politicians are in it for the money so Farage is still a good guy) is pretty weak. The argument might address Farage’s earning from his TV work or even from his payments for promoting a product. But it does not address these large donations or the fact that he did not declare them.
Thatcher, like Blair later, did set up a foundation in her name and used that vehicle to earn money after her time in the commons. She also, like quite a few retired politicians, took on advisory work for large companies and wrote a couple of books. Blair has build his foundation into a large advisory business (that is, its more successful than Thatcher’s similar attempt). But note - these actions by such retired politicians only happened when they were … retired from politics. This is a significant difference from Farage’s earnings and donations - which happened when he was one of two directors of Reform UK.
How can reform be different?, they’re just the tories #2
