I’m Zee, a reporter/researcher with Vox Media, and I’m currently finding and developing stories for an upcoming project on how television and movies can change lives, relationships, and worldviews.
I’d love to hear from people who feel like a netflix film or tv show has transformed their life in some way.
Please feel free to comment here or DM me if you’d be open to chatting sometime.
I can never grasp how a film or TV programme can change a life or relationship in some way, unless you argue with your other half about what programme to watch. TV and films only play a part in my life as a form of entertainment, which stops at that point. I may get the DVD/Bluray of a TV/Film if it’s good enough to watch later as part of my collection, but that seems rare these days.
The only impact Netflix has on my life is when it depreciates my pension when it comes to paying for it, and at the moment, there doesn’t seem anything on there worth watching. Currently I have suspended my subscription until such time there is something watchable on it. But I can say the same for Disney+, Paramount and Sky.
Not really sure about whether the program itself contributed anything major (although the optimistic nature may have), and it was on Prime then some other streaming service, but a few weeks ago my wife and I started to binge watch The Good Doctor.
It became a staple part of our day for some unknown reason, and we didn’t really watch anything else (other than my wife watching Songs of Praise after I went to bed). It’s been of increasing rarity that we concur in what we’re going to watch.
