Government Weakens Vaping Laws

The government has backed down on its strong vaping laws to get the support of the Greens to get the legislation through the Senate

From Monday 1st July Vapes will only be available to adults from chemists and a prescription is needed but from October any Adult will be able to buy vapes from a chemist without a prescription.

Some argue the vapes horse has already bolted and these laws are too little, too late.

Vapes with their colourful packaging and pop flavours have been seen as big tobacco’s way of addicting children to their product.

Smoking in Australia is down to about 10% of adults but vaping has been a problem in schools. The throw away vapes contain a lithium battery that is not recharged but thrown away. In the USA they calculate that each year enough lithium is thrown away to power 600 Teslas (?)
