Safe and sound here tonight, Uncle Joe. Thank you for your concern. It was nothing like your rounding-the-cape adventure!
Yes, Horelyflyer, it is a diverse and interesting place. You’ll find something to like here…
OldGreyFox You describe a night not altogether different than the one here in Florida. I would love to stay up longer and watch a good movie like Taylor and Clift…oooh, that’s a good one. Mrs. OGF should have nudged you awake. Sadly, the new dog ate the remote control and Target (the nearest mass merchandise store), closed at nine. I suppose I will curl up with a good book and the vandal with the taste for plastic and circuit boards.
I don’t know, Spitfire, a good night’s sleep never caused me much misbehavior. At least…so far…
The rain has been falling on and off all day, but I did find a dry intermission that was long enough to get out for a few miles walk. I spent the rest of the afternoon working on a project that I will disclose shortly. I leave you tonight with a photo of the eleventh century church I visited yesterday…Tuesday is run day so it’s off to bed now…Goodnight everyone…
A late check in just to wish everyone a good night, but l lingered for a minute to take in the image of the lovely church that OGF has posted. There is something so poignant about the handiwork of people that stands the test of time. I wonder what the labo(u)rors thought as they laid each stone, who they went home to at the end of the day, and whether or not they thought about the future beholders of their efforts.
It is fascinating that we are ultimately tied to each other past and present.
Thanks Surfermom, I wonder if builders get great satisfaction when they drive round and think ‘I built that, and it will still be around long after I’m gone’…
I used to manufacture diamond abrasive grinding wheels, some of them used in the glass industries lasted for many years but it’s unlikely that I’ll ever see them again…I still feel satisfied though…I bought my house with the proceeds…:-D:-D:-D
The mainline railway station in Doncaster was in need of expansion so they’ve put a new platform in and called it ‘Platform 0’ and it was the one I had to use to return home today…I felt like an extra in a Harry Potter movie…
Apparently people reckon that ‘All Hell’ is about to be released tonight, what with the wind and rain…I think Surfermom will know more about ‘All Hell’ than we could ever imagine…Stay safe Surfermom, and everyone here too…Time to retire to me bed…Goodnight Everyone…I’ll search for my wheelie bin in the morning…
How quickly the days flash past just lately, it doesn’t seem like ten minutes since I said goodnight last night…Tomorrow will be my last home run for a week as we make our way to Llandudno on Friday. So with plenty to do tomorrow I’m off to get some kip…Goodnight forum residers…
I normally don’t post in this because I usually don’t go to bed until around 3.00AM. But just to try and contribute to this excellent thread, I will say in advance.
Good Morning!
The storm blew in pink flamingos from south Florida! That’s as rare as reindeer around here. When I saw them I thought it was a practical joke and that someone had placed plastic ones on the beach - until they started moving. It was dreamlike and terribly exciting! I suppose I amuse easily :-).
May the flamingos in your life, dreams or otherwise, never be plastic.
Those Flamingoes must have been quite a surprise Surfermom. When you go out running in the country or on a deserted beach it never ceases to amaze me the things you see, or the feelings you experience especially first thing in the mornings.
Running takes on a new dimension next week as my running courses will be centred in North Wales. But with a long drive in the morning I will take my leave from the forum and get some ‘Shuteye’ now…Goodnight forum dwellers…
Standin’ at the door of the Pink Flamingo cryin’ in the rain,
It was a kind of so-so love
And I’m gonna make sure it doesn’t happen again,
You and I had to be the standing joke of the year,
You were a runaround, a lost and found and not for me, I feel,
Take your hands off me, hey,
I don’t belong to you, you see,
And take a look in my face, for the last time,
I never knew you, you never knew me,
Say hello goodbye,
Say hello and wave goodbye
We tried to make it work, you in a cocktail skirt
And me in a suit but it just wasn’t me,
You’re used to wearing less,
And now your life’s a mess, so insecure you see,
I put up with all the scenes,
This is one scene that’s goin’ to be played my way
Take your hands off me, hey,
I don’t belong to you, you see,
And take
