Good Morning Wednesday 30th October 2024

Good morning!
Cloudy but dry and not too cold

Up early, feeling moderately awake

I had deliberately run down fresh food, so very soon, about 08-00 I’ll go to the supermarket and stock up, especially as one of my neighbours has told me that Sainsbury have an offer at the moment, of 25% off 6 bottles of wine, so I’ll see if it’s still on.

And that’s about it

Nothing says “fresh food” more than 6 bottles of wine :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Morning all – grey overcast day – top temperature 12c

I find it strange when visiting a place where I used to live too Bruce, you expect everything to be the same but, of course, it isn’t

I like your priorities zuludog! :wine_glass:

The garden furniture was collected yesterday, the man who collected it gave me a complete run down of what they would do to renovate it. The table top is marble, which didn’t need any work so he removed it and wrapped it in a cloth and a plastic bag and left it in the corner of the garden. I have now sent an email to the carpenter who made my cabinet for me to ask him to call to discuss building a small summer house.

Had my covid jab yesterday afternoon – unlike everyone else I know I haven’t had any adverse reaction, except for a sore arm. Shame really because I would like an excuse to stay in bed for 24 hours! :sleeping_bed:

The cleaner is due to call this afternoon to see what she is letting herself in for and decide exactly what I would like her to do.

Was due to go to a meeting at the church this morning but was so busy sorting some things that it is now too late! They are holding a coffee get together on Friday so I will try to remember to go to that one!

Take care – have a lovely day everyone

Rest day today…Well, for exercise anyway. Did an early morning Tesco shop and then tootled round to M&S for tonight’s dinner (cottage pie) I don’t think people are as short of money as they claim to be, I just paid a tenner for a cottage pie for me and Mrs Fox - the prices are scandalous, but the shop was heaving with customers, and the car park was chock a block…Mainly Jags and Range Rovers…
The Hearing Enhancement Devices are not working out too good
:hear_with_hearing_aid:
There’s no way that I can wear them for more than a few hours. They make my ears itch and after a while feel so uncomfortable. They enhance the sounds that I don’t want to hear, the tic tock of the clock and extraction fans take precedence over conversation.
Five grand so I can hear the telly seems a bit excessive…

Good, good morning fromm scholastic Florida!

My daughter and I are at the local elementary school today; she is interning in the physical education department, so I am helping 5th graders in the writing lab. I love this age; twelve-year-olds are so bright and quick to laugh.

I’ll have to run later, but I really enjoy late afternoon running, which makes for empty trails and my wandering mind.

The biggest challenge I have is what to have for dinner. If I could only make things as simple as @zuludog .

They sound like they need some adjusting, @OGF. If you go, consider taking an item or two that create the most irritating sounds - silverware, a clock, a portable fan - whatever. I know it sounds nutty, but audiologists tend to adjust the aids in dead-quiet examiniation rooms, which makes no sense at all. My clever dad came carried a fan and bag of items to test with the adjustments, and that strategy really seemed to help.

@Bruce , it sounds like your trip was worthwhile and that your are now free to explore. Have a nice time.

@SheilaP, you will have to share photos when the restoration is complete.

Have a happy day, everyone!

Just been to the pharmacy for a covid jab, this is about the 6th or 7th one now. Now waiting for a parcel delivery, lucky it didn’t arrive while we were out.

OGF do what I do and get a bluetooth dongle and plug it into the TV. With a Bluetooth headset you can listen to the TV in peace with the TV sound turned down but the plug in dongle port on the tv turned up, you don’t disturb anyone else in the room

I might struggle to get the long case clock up the stairs in the car park Surfer and Mrs Fox with be accompanying me…

Will Mrs Fox be able to hear it realspeed?

Cheers Besoeker, I had to go private because I might not live long enough to benefit from NHS ones. It’s only money and you can’t take it with you…
:flushed:

Oh well I think I had to wait for mine for a few months but then I’m a tight fisted old Scotsman…

One of the great advantages of living alone is that you can have any sound system at any volume you like.

On my Android TVs I have the Spotify app which feeds the home theatre system and which can be heard all over the house. My record player is absolutely bereft.

After one or more of my kids have visited I fear, for a few seconds, that something is terribly wrong with my TV because they have turned the sound down to suit their hearing and I can’t hear it at all.

I’ve got a couple of stacks of CD’s which never get used now because youtube supplies all my music needs, sodding adverts do my box in though…

No ads on Spotify, actually no ads on Youtude as long as I watch it on my computer. I use a program called Freetube. It is an open source program so you can trust it.
