As the sun came up, of course, it all burned off to an almost cloudless sky. There were the usual birds on poles enjoying the morning sunshine. A couple of Sulphur Crests:
Annoyingly my accessory bag making is on hold because I can’t find the piece of material I bought for the purpose. Even more annoying I found the USB C to USB A adapters that I had lost and bought replacements for.
Your life is never boring Bruce and your wildlife is stunning.
I have no idea at all why we had so many Police cars and officers around yesterday afternoon, but it has worked wonders with keeping the troublemakers inside.
Not even a whiff of Cannabis in the air, no electric scooters racing on the pavements.
A mere twenty nine degrees today!
Don’t get me started on electric scooters Swimmy!
It’s something that really gets me riled up Only the other day I saw a woman nearly mown down by a young lad riding one at velocity on the pavement. Also there’s an increase of lumpy great electric bikes being ridden on the pavement too, often with a hefty pannier on the back making deliveries. The genie is truly out of the bottle I fear, a topic in it’s own right!
Anyway, now I’ve got that off my chest, today I’ll be taking Chilli jnr to visit The Free Shop. It’s a kind of a support centre helping struggling families and individuals with food, clothing and company. They’ve only just opened up a really nice stylish independent cafe in a separate building for everyone to use. I have a friend who volunteers there.
After that we’ll be popping into The Shotokan Karate Dojo which is almost nextdoor to the café. All very convenient
Even more annoying I found the USB C to USB A adapters that I had lost and bought replacements for. @Bruce … this always happens. Or keep something ‘useful’ for years and years. The day you decide to throw it away someone is sure to ask if you have one!
@swimfeeders … you didn’t have a man rampaging on your roof did you (re- the volume of police presence)
Nope!
I think it’d be fair to say it’s a rather explosive and dynamic style. Many years ago when I took karate lessons I found learning and performing the kata rather satisfying and perhaps oddly quite relaxing.
I have a double driveway so my Carer was blocked in by Police Cars.
Times have changed since I moved here 8 years ago.
I have become ill, so in order to hit the thugs i have to ask them to stand there and wait until my carers get me within hitting distance.
Something of a problem for me.
Morning all – another very hot day forecast – sounds of thunder last night but no rain. There is a bit of a breeze so I have opened windows (not the ones in full sun!)
Hmm I am wondering if I am being spied on! After posting yesterday that I should be looking for a home for the bewildered, I have had a number of ads for Retirement Homes appear on my Facebook timeline!
My watch stopped working so had a bit of a search and found I have 6 watches – none of which work so had to buy a battery - £20 for a watch battery!!!
Today’s plan is the monthly meeting at the church for “old” people! They usually have some interesting speakers but it does mean we are all sitting in rows and not able to just mingle, which is what I would prefer to do!
Good morning!
Beautiful weather - sunny, clear, dry, warm
I haven’t Posted for several days as I’ve had an awful cold - sneezing, shivering, all the usual stuff
It’s more or less cleared up now, but has left me with a cough & sore throat, and feeling weak & tired, but that’s slowly improving
@Chilliboot There is a Community Shop where I live, which sounds similar to your Free Shop
It has a grocery shop selling surplus & short dated food at reduced prices, clothing, a free library, advice on benefits etc, and a cafe
It is part of a larger group or chain, though I’ve forgotten its name
In fact there are several of these types of reduced price food organisations, but it’s all rather fragmented, and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of organised list or register
My son has always been interested in sports and keeping fit, and has progressed from junior judo club to karate & kick boxing
However, he will be 40 later this year and is getting to be an old man!
Combined with a recent hernia operation he has reluctantly decided to cut down or give up the really aggressive stuff – I have suggested Tai Chi, which I have been doing for several years, though not too seriously
