Good morning on this cold one, sunny but the temperature is only getting up to 18 or 19° and dropped to 11° overnight, definitely hot water bottle weather. The total lack of clouds means that the promised rain will not fall and the ground it getting very dry.
No walk this morning too cold, I might go this arvo.
Went shopping, bought several exciting things from Big W, brush and dustpan, T Shirt and a Hoodie. Then to the supermarket for milk, it’s all go.
Have the house opened up - all the doors and windows wide open - trying to warm the place up, the roof insulation is great in summer but a damn nuisance in winter, the house no longer warms up once the sun hits the tin roof.
At least I got the month right today, have a good one.
I was dreading it, but it is much better than I had expected.
Staff are lovely, very professional and cheery.
Lots of rules and checks, however I have a letter from the senior Heart Surgeon, confirm that I need the emergency drugs within reach at all times.
They are controlled drugs, usually kept locked up and administered only by Medical Staff.
Good job they are in reach, I had a sudden cardiac issue just before 5 this morning. knocked the laptop and water jug over.
I’m Okay, but stuck in bed being monitored.
All Good Fun.
The house is being cleared entirely this week, not only contents going into storage, but demolition of the upstairs walls floors and ceilings, bathroom taken back to the brickwork etc etc.
Stairlift has been removed and taken away for a complete overhaul and all carpets in the house are being removed today.
Oh dear, tis going to reach 35 degrees today!
We will be going out for a little while, it’s just too hot and oppressive staying indoors. Not much more to add today.
Yet another hot sweaty oppressive day to look forward to. Extreme heat warnings everywhere here, shops and parks closing because of the heat. I’m not even going for my daily walk today, as its already very warm outside, and due to get really hot later. If I could, I would park my car in my lounge with the engine running to let its air conditioning cool the house down.
Anyways, I’m dropping the wife off at the gym shortly and have an iced coffee in their air conditioned shop, and probably stay as long as I can to get away from this heat.
We have a red weather warning – which apparently means a risk of death! I do need to get to the shop but after that will be spending the day indoors. I do have some ironing calling to me but that isn’t getting done in this heat!
Bin men came at 7.30 this morning – started early so they can finish before the heat really builds. Have to say I do feel sorry for them, having to wear those hi-viz jackets but at least they don’t have to lift the bins like the old time bin men did!
Stop right there! Sounds bliss … I couldn’t sleep last night. Tossing and turning and wandering to the fridge to munch cucumber slices. I’ve got a thing for crunchy cold cucumber right now … makes a change from ice cream.
I can’t remember struggling this much with the heatwave of 1976. Of course, I am half a century older.
Good afternoon everyone , wow, the climate has changed in the UK. I must say I’m really surprised hearing about these extremely high Summer temperatures and it seems that this has been happening for quite a few years now. I never experienced temperatures over 30c when I lived there but that was over thirty years ago. I remember that even 25C was unbearable in London because of all the humidity.
Anyway, same here at the moment, high 30s, but perhaps more tolerable as we don’t have high humidity. Not yet, anyway, and not up here in the hills.
The cat has a name - Mina, my daughter’s choice.
Stay cool everyone and make sure you keep your blinds down until sunset!
That’s it … I’m lying on my bed like a beached whale must remember to move that mirror so I can’t scare myself… ruminating over what to eat.
Just seen that they’ve extended the Heat Warning to include Friday.
I wonder if Europe are having it bad they usually have it worse than us … and the US … what about them?
Good afternoon, phew another scorcher .
Here right on the south coast there has been a cooling breeze of the sea.
Do you like me keep all windows doors and curtains shut ? It does make a difference , cooler but not sure I like being incarcerated in the darkness .
Off to the Lake District next week can’t wait as they get a lot of rain up north , and I’m looking forward to some decent umbrella a mac weather.
We had that intense heat two weeks ago! Now, it’s forcasted to return all next week! I can feel your heat complaints for sure. Stifling and oppressive. Hang in there, I have a feeling it will continue all summer. Climate change is here to stay.
Mind you if the AMOC does actually fail then northern Europe will be plunged into a permanent winter. I mean really cold like drops of 40° over a century - not that that will worry most of us here.
24th is crashing rapidly now. It was a decent day, lil humid but ok.
Yea, Lil Woman didn’t have Judge Judy on & enjoyed watching the
crowds of Scottish cheering the Soccer.
