Good Morning Wednesday, 15th January 2025

Good morning everybody, another typical summers day for me with temperatures in the mid to high 20s, the only bummer - it is humid again.

Have spent the morning going through my camping/travelling stuff in one of the spare bedrooms and trying to catalogue what is there. Have already discovered a 2 man light weight cyclist tent that goes back several decades. I can’t remember when I last used it but probably last century. I can also see a couple of other tents I doubt I will ever use again.

Still lots to do there.

Might go to the mall later to take advantage of the air con and also pick up a parcel of filaments for my 3D Printer but first have to wait for a delivery - strictly speaking I don’t need to wait in for it because they will leave in on my verandah but I want to see it. Nothing very exciting just a camping chair but exciting enough for me.

There is supposed to be rain and thunder latter but no sign of it at the moment, BOM usually gets their predictions right but the storm/rain/whatever passes to the north or south of me, I seem to live in a bit of a rain shadow.

The itching caused by my Paper Wasp sting is slowly subsiding but it has been driving me mad for a few days now. I would have much preferred that the sting hurt more than the allergic reaction it caused but at least the redness is disappearing. Tried everything I could to try to calm it down, anti histamines, sorbalin, steroid cream, ibuprofen but nothing made a lot of difference.

Have a terrific day, keep busy, take care…

Good morning - Dull and wet this morning. The temperature is nearly 10ºC at 8.45 A.M.

Glad the wasp sting effects are subsiding Bruce.

Nephrostomy dressing change day today. At least I don’t need to stay in for the nurses to call and do it now that Mrs mart can change it as good as they can.

Might go for a short walk later if the weather brightens up.

Have a good day.

Had a restless night with tummy ache, but nice to see the cold weather has departed for the time being. A rest day today and meandered around a deserted Tesco with Mrs Fox.
The road was flooded on the drive home…
Water Leak 01
But as we passed by water was erupting from the gutter, it looked like a burst water main and not far from the one I reported on at the end of last year…

A couple of Yorkshire Water vans were already at the scene. I hope they make a better job of repair than they did the last time… :009:
There will be a lot of disgruntled motorists trying to get to work when they put traffic lights up.
It’s the main route into Doncaster.

I see that at Donald Trumps inauguration ceremony there have been 15 heads of different countries invited. Guess who has been left of the guest list?

Keir Starmer our prime minister.

Good afternoon from the women’s repair and maintenance shop of Florida, more commonly known as a hair salon. Apparently I have to sit her for a while to bake and simmer, so I have a minute to check in.

It is late afternoon after a frenetic morning, but many missions accomplished.

While you were chatting about the water, OGF, my eye was drawn to the very high gables of that housing - an attractive design style that, aside from Europe, I have only seen in Canada. Despite driving on the wrong  side, that gable gives away the general location. The broken infrastructure is typical of - everywhere . I was up all night too, because Mr. Surfermom dropped an interesting “What would you think about selling this house?” bomb right before bed. That got the wheels of sleeplessness kicked into high gear. Nothing that a little run and coffee couldn’t resolve. I hope you are feeling better.

I hope you all had a good day and are settling in for a good night’s sleep!

It’s quite unusual for Barnby Dun also Surfermom. There are some very big housing projects going on around Doncaster, and with the closure of the Malt Kilns …Below

A building company submitted plans to convert the building into flats (apartments) and also build on surrounding land. I would imagine that architecture that you refer to is constructed to ‘fit in’ with the original architecture of the maltings. I also wonder if it is designed to take up less land, something you have in abundance.

I was interested in the solar panels and was surprised at how few there were, With the less effective sunlight you would expect a lot more. I would have thought covering the whole south facing roof was the way to go.

This is typical here:

The solar panels on the maltings apartments are a bit sparse Bruce, and on the bungalow estate where I live they usually fill every available roof space providing it’s generally south facing. However, there aren’t many who have invested in solar panels and I’d say that out of around 500 properties only about 2 dozen have panels. They are very expensive to buy and most people won’t live long enough to get the benefit, and since the government lowered or even removed the subsidy it hasn’t helped their popularity.
A bungalow roof will only allow about ten panels max, and that’s if the roof points in the right direction, and at the moment we only have eight hours of daylight.

Surprisingly, there are very few in Florida… The reason? With so many hurricanes and tropical storms coming through, it is an expensive undertaking to remove/repair the panels whenever one has roof damage requiring extensive repairs or replacement.

I wonder if the same is true in Nortthern Australia too - I will keep an eye out
