Good Morning Wednesday 11th September 2024

Good morning to you all on this lovely, warm Wednesday - temps here are forecast to be in the mid 20s.

Not much happening today in my neck of the woods. Earlier I got my trolley out to start packing some stuff in the car ready for the weekend (my garage is at the bottom of the garden). So far my clothes and food boxes are now sitting on the back seat. There is no rush as I have three days to transfer what I need, the things like gazebo, water and fuel can wait until Friday arvo

Most of it is the same every trip whether for a weekend or a couple of months, I have a check list - my OCD side loves lists :icon_cool:

Still have no idea where I am actually going, I will decide that based on the weather and whims on Sunday when I will be in Moree in northern, central NSW only a few hundred ks from the Queensland border but with the opportunity to head north, east or west.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, be good, keep well and enjoy your day…

That is pretty darn awesome Bruce! to have a list, be able to pack up for any destination!!! kudos for that! btw, very organized container and packing!

It’s almost 12 am here, got through watching most of the US presidential debate. It did not change much my initial thoughts about who to vote for. Always amazing though the strategies placed in good debates. I wish more for accountabilities. It’s disheartening to hear lies by the candidates, but maybe part of the strategy.

For another thread maybe, I’d like to know thoughts on capitalism versus socialism. Conservative versus moderate.

Here’s to wed, feeling lucky and good one hurricane almost gone and hopefully no more this season.

Happy Wed all.

Good morning!
cool, with sunshine & showers

Nothing much planned for today
I posted my letters & parcel yesterday, plus a couple of other errands in town, so today I’ll just be pottering around with domestic stuff like tidying & reading, but nothing so strenuous as vacuum cleaning or changing the sheets … perhaps tomorrow …

And that’s about it - exciting, eh?

Good morning - I slept long and deep last night, which is unusual. Woke up to a sunny morning but one that is much cooler than of late. The outside temperature is 10ºC. The indoor temperature is below 20ºC for the first time since the summer began.

We didn’t make the bus trip mentioned yesterday, so that will be done this morning. Probably to a nearby town to have a mooch around. Maybe a pint in a pub before heading home.

Have a good day.

Edit: The chair fitted fine into the space provided. Ably driven in and out of it by herself. Bought a few small items while in town but didn’t bother with the pint.

Morning all – bright sunny day (at the moment!)

Day has started well with the beast not leaving me any little gifts to clear up. She also left the house as soon as she finished breakfast to chase off a couple of pigeons

Congratulations on the good nights sleep mart – I envy you

Plans for today are more laundry and then off to try to find a towel rail and loo roll holder for the cloakroom. When I moved in the previous owners had taken the existing ones with them (!) I have tried to find replacements but the space between the screw holes in the wall are very close together and I haven’t been able to find anything that fits. I did contact the previous owners who said the rail and holder were there when they bought and didn’t know where they came from!

Take care – have a great day

That cat seems to spend more time with you than its owners! I am surprised it poos just anywhere, cats are usually so fussy.

Yes it seems that way - I keep asking them if they plan giving up their British citizenship as they are out of the country so much! They are away for 5 weeks this time, back 4 weeks and then off for another week, that is it for the rest of the year (I think). They are a lovely couple, the wife brings in cakes every Wednesday and the husband is always available if I need any odd jobs done , he also services my car and only charges me for any parts he has to buy (he is a motor mechanic) - so I think of it as quid pro quo

Morning All… :039:
Tesco shop done and just deciding what else to do on my rest day…
Mrs Fox has been beavering around dusting and cleaning and then she’s off to accompany a friend to hospital who’s having some tests done.
Jaysus! it was cold this morning…Brrrrrr…Temperature was about the same here Mart.
9 point something outside and below 20 degrees C in the bedroom with 77% humidity.
That definitely is the coldest it’s been since last winter/spring…I even put the heating on for an hour last night…
:astonished:
Glad to hear the cat is being thoughtful Sheila, I was wondering whether it was male or female, and what is it’s name? It’s probably glad to see you again…
:kissing_cat:
It must be exciting planning a trip Bruce, with Australia being such a big place, you can always find some good weather. I seem to be getting a bit soft these days and am not looking forward to the winter cold weather. I would probably need twice as much clothing as you if I were to go away to somewhere in the UK now.
Enjoy your pint Mart, I might just go down to the nearest garden centre for a buttered scone and a cup of tea…
:cookie:
The emojis are not very English…No scones… :009:

Her name is Millie - not sure if she is glad to see me, she completely ignores me and even takes a detour around the table in order not to walk past me to get to the door!

Have a wonderful trip, @Bruce ! I had to read your post twice to be sure I saw correctly. You are the only traveler/camper/vacationer I ever knew who brought their own gazebo!

I am so impressed. When I was in my 30s, I had a thing about gazebos (from Terms of Endearment) and thought if I ever found a man who would build me a gazebo out back, I would love him forever. Note: None of my 84 hubbies ever offered to…which is why I became single over, and over, and over…

Ever seen a Fly. Stick Two Fingers/Wings, in the air at you ?
Jethro did.
A persistent Fly, kept following every thing he typed on the screen. Bought >>

Sprayed the Raid. Wiped the screen.
Fly ecstatic from the shower. Noticed & joined by a horde of Hornet’s.
Result. Jethro Raided!!. Stunned and Stung.
For having written “Good Morning 50+”

Ouch! Lesson learned, don’t let hornets commiserate with flies while inside the home. Social hour should be outside on the patio.

Should Jethro relocate to NYC.

I don’t think it is quite the structure you imagine:

It only takes about 10 minutes to erect and I only put it up if I am staying a couple of days or more.

the towel rail and toilet roll holder were there when they bought ? So why did they see fit to take them with when they moved?

Thanks for clarification, Bruce. I see it is not the same, still … well, it lets you off the hook of potential “could he be the one?” That’s definitely a plus for…you!

No idea! Although from the stories I have heard from neighbours since I moved in they were, shall we say, “careful” with spending money and apparently not the most helpful people. I am still receiving mail for them as they wouldn’t pay Royal Mail to divert it!!
