Good morning to all who follow. it is a party cloudy day here, a bit cooler than yesterday (29°) but again the heat and tropical moisture streaming down from the north means a high chance of a thunderstorm this arvo/evening.
I was up early as usual but didn’t wander down to the shops until after 9am, had to get milk and sundry groceries, also bought a couple of pork pies and a couple of kilos of beef sausages from the butcher (most of which I will freeze). Had a nice chat with the girl behind the deli counter about brawn because she had never tried it.
Not sure what the rest of the day holds, put the section of carpet in my hallway back down now that it is completely dry, threw the underfelt in the bin. It probably should be replaced but will see how it goes.
My friend gave me one of her Christmas puddings at coffee and cake yesterday morning (they are the best ever). I will probably eat it Christmas Eve because by the time it is pudding time on Christmas Day we are always far too full. Must remember the brandy!
Have a wonderful day on this third day of Summer or Winter depending where you are.
Morning all – another bright start to the day although a bit chilly, top temperature today 7c!
Gardener had to cancel yesterday and rescheduled for today – he had a bit of a bump in his car (will get the full details later!), fortunately he was unhurt.
Not much planned for today – I may get around to sorting out the part of my DVD collection which is languishing in the spare room (no more room in the cabinet I had made!). Must dig out my Christmas DVDs
Going out for dinner with friends tonight which is always enjoyable. We go to a small local pub – usually we walk but as my knee has been playing up we will be going by car
Huge shopping trip to Tesco early this morning got the most important thing a large case of Carling beer. on the way home really heavy amount of traffic going the other way, glad we went early.
Good morning - A bright day with some cloud. A bit nippy with the temperature being 6ºC but well, got to be expected in December.
The District Nurse is calling at some time today, so I have to stay home until she has been.
I suppose it’s time I made the effort and picked up some leaves. The oak tree still has some to drop and I don’t usually bother until they are all down but they are getting a bit deep on the lawn and the paths beyond the bushes.
The lawn mower is a good a way of picking them up. It sounds a bit strange to be cutting the grass at this time of year but it picks up the leaves pretty well.
Good Morning Everyone…
A bit nippy here too at 4 degrees C, still managed to wear shorts for my walk/jog but did more jogging to keep warm. With not a breath of wind through the wood and along the canal towpath it didn’t feel too cold after all. Made a start on my photo index yesterday and after a few changes and re-writes, I finally managed to put together a decent system. Now the hard work starts of going through 74 years (yes! 74 Years) of photos and writing a brief description.
Haircut later with the charming Kerry, I haven’t been for ages because the last time I was there I had it all cut off (number 5 all over ) Mrs Fox wasn’t happy… I never tell her how I want her to have it cut…But it was a bit of a shock for her…
I’ll just have a short back and sides today…
I would love to see 29 degrees here Bruce, and there’s nothing like the atmosphere before a good thunderstorm.
I do that Mart, use the mower to pick up the leaves and other debris on the lawn, it beats raking…
Sorry to hear about your knee Sheila, it seems that tis the season for poorly knees…
I’m missing tales of the cat, I think you should get yerself one…I know you love them really…
Always go to Tesco early realspeed, it’s practically empty and the traffic isn’t too bad either…Although we’ve been going to M&S recently for our Wednesday dinner and the route goes right past the school…Bloody nightmare!
High of 6c ,cloudy , my online food shop arrived no subs , bought a pkt of Broth Mix , ,they have to be soaked in water for several hours so that will go in the slow cooker tomorrow with some root veg .
looking forward to tomorrow evening going to see BBC Concert Orchestra playing Carmina Burana
I was up with the sun to put a few miles behind me an am now racing through a cup of chai before shifting up int 5th gear. My godson is getting married in Virginia this weekend, outdoors* with a forecast high of 36F/2.2Cº, so I am scrambling to find warm clothes, plan the snacks for the 13 hour drive, and get this house looking festive at the same time. The irony is that there is a beautiful little Methodist church within a mile of the venue. I guess I am old fashioned in liking church weddings complete with stained-glass windows, candles, organs…and God’s blessing of central heating .
I hope you all have a safe and pleasant day and evening outings. I’ll be spending the evening with @Eliza (Never mind that lump in the backseat, E!)
