Good Morning Tuesday, 2nd June 2026

Good morning fellow forum folks. Gawd, it is cold. I had forgotten about my Ooodie but am wearing it now so all is sweetness and light and a mere 19°.

Doctors visit this morning I nearly forgot about it and was a few minutes late but so was he and when I arrived he was calling my name so it all turned out well. I had to do some pathology so I combined that visit with my cancer doc’s pathology for later in the month. Left the pathology lab with an empty arm.

I have to go back to my GP again in a fortnight to get the results and for another check on my blood pressure which was a bit high. Three doctors visits in a month!

Received a message from my daughter telling me that they weren’t going camping on the weekend and to come up on the Saturday, I was going on the public holiday Monday but I have things organised so am going up on the Sunday (BTW she insists it is going “down” to Canberra). What with doctors etc, this month is all go :icon_wink:

Have a good one.

Take care…

Glad everything lined up with the appointment, but man, three doctor visits in a single month is exhausting. Hope the blood pressure settles down for you and that you have a great visit with your daughter this weekend, whichever direction it is!

Good morning all!

Absolutely pouring down first thing here in West Sussex, not complaining,we need the rain after the recent heatwave. Chores galore at home today! :broom:

However, looking ahead to the weekend I’ve decided that it’s high time I acquired a light meter as an aid for the analogue photography. Some films and lightning situations can be awkward, back up for the different cameras built in metering is going to be pretty damn useful!

Many moons ago I had one of these, loved it!

Problem is the photo cells within are prone to deterioration over the decades. So, for just under a fiver from the Google play app store I got the next best thing! :camera:

Roll on Saturday’s gig!:+1::guitar:

Have a good day forum people! :v::blossom:

Good morning!
Dull, cool, damp but not actually raining

I have always kept a decent supply of food in, and this has increased thanks to Covid, price rises, and forecasts of general shortages and doom & gloom
However, some of my packets are out of date, and things have been in the freezer for ages and needs defrosting, so I’m using up my stocks
Yesterday my neighbour called - she has been sorting her kitchen & freezer as well, and gave me quite a few things she didn’t want any more, including some Wiltshire Farm Food meals, so the freezer is full again
I’ll work out a rough meal plan for the coming weeks to use it up
That means I won’t need to buy as much food, but I have bought some fresh fruit and made up a bag to take to her this afternoon as a thankyou

Hopefully my cold/bug/flu thing has cleared up but I have put weight on and it has left me feeling weak & tired, so I’ve started some regular exercise and short walks

I think that’s an excellent idea!
It’s sensible to have a back up supplies of essentials, not only food, to fall back on should circumstances dictate. You’ve made me realise I should do the same. It’s so simple to buy an extra tin of something, batteries etc when shopping. :+1:

Morning all – really heavy rain last night and today is changeable to say the least! One minute it is bright sunshine the next raining!

Yesterday the charger for the mobile phone I bought in Australia stopped working and, of course, the charger for my old phone doesn’t fit! Went through the box of old charging cables (which we all have) and found one that fits and works! Now I don’t know whether to stick with that one or buy a charger specifically for a Nokia phone!

Saw the Nurse Practitioner this morning, she will issue a prescription and is also referring me to a dermatologist. I also asked her advice on how to proceed regarding my dizzy spells – she is arranging a face to face appointment with a doctor!!! (she must have special powers to manage that). I also told her I am supposed to have blood tests every 6 months but haven’t had one for 2 years, something else she is going to arrange for me to have done! So helpful and friendly - a reminder of what the NHS used to be like!

Since arriving back home I have had 2 phone calls – one confirming a prescription has been forwarded to the pharmacy and the other booking the blood test for tomorrow afternoon!

Only other plan for today is some shopping and a little light housework

Take care – have a great day

There is a UK Facebook Group called, logically enough, ‘UK Preppers Club’ and loads of YT Videos about Prepping.

Some people will stock up with water & whole rooms full of supplies, it all depends on how far you want to go.

I think I have enough for about 3 weeks before I would struggle. Besides the freezer I have Shelf Stable items = cans, packets etc
Much of it is stuff that is easy to cook & eat, bordering on junk food, but I don’t intend living off it for ever. I’ll use it up at a slow rate to rotate stocks
And don’t forget things like coffee, dried milk, soap, bog paper, batteries

I didn’t do any serious panic buying, but as you’ve suggested I just bought a few extra items here & there, especially if they were on offer
You might have seen that I’ve had a couple of bouts of flu this year, and I was grateful for extra supplies

I used to do a lot of hiking & backpacking so I have camping stoves & fuel, candles, warm clothing, sub zero sleeping bag, etc in case the power goes off for a while
Although I have gas central heating, that needs electricity to make it work
Oh, and several can openers!

I’ve tried laying in extra stocks of booze, but somehow that doesn’t seem to last as long as I intended

Lots of thunderstorms circling as I set off for my early morning walk, so I wore my waterproof jacket just in case. I ended up carrying the thing in my hands after it got well warm after a couple of sessions of fast reps…
:man_running:
The rain held off until I was home and in the shower.

Blimey Bruce! 19ºC here this morning and close, not a breath of wind and perfect for unwinding in the solitude of nature, everything so still and quiet, even better if I hadn’t had to carry my jacket half way around…

Looks like a nice bit of kit Chilli, my Dad was an amatuer photographer, and I am quite familiar with all the stuff he used to use, flash guns, enlargers, trays full of chemicals, and light meters. He even had his own processing room complete with blackout boards for the windows and red light. I bet he would have loved the simplicity of digital had he still been here…

Sounds like a good idea to have emergency supplies just in case, but after three heart attacks I probably won’t live long enough to take advantage…

Most chargers these days are 5 volt Sheila, and will work on most phones and USB stuff.
Three types of plugs mainly, here is a description and explanation.
Most can be bought from Tesco.

My problem was the lead wouldn’t fit in the phone! I am still considering whether to check whether I can continue to use the lead and charger I found or if I should buy a Nokia one!

Och the noo !! It’s just a wee gentle 17C !!
