Good Morning Tuesday, 23rd September 2025

Good morning to all you forum folks on this cool but sunny spring morning.

It is only just over 10 days before daylight savings kicks in. I dislike daylight saving intensely, it is great for places far from the equator but it makes little difference to me except that the sun comes up an hour later and I get up in the dark again

The spare joysticks for my remote controller arrived today, I am very happy about that, losing them was a big worry, they are small and fiddly and I keep dropping them.

Didn’t fly the drone yesterday because it was a bit windy but hopefully will today. I need to go to a bigger area to test out its capability in the wind.

When I was picking up the package from the PO I also called into Big W for a couple of T shirts. Discovered they have denim shorts at half the price of my usual boutique, Lowes, so bought a pair to try, they look OK to me.

Before I fly my drone I have to cut down the Agave plant and flowers as they have expired, I hope the younger ones lower down will take over and that they don’t all die at once…

Enjoy your Tuesday.

Take care…

Hi

Good morning from a hospital trolley in Resus.

Been here for hours, still waiting for a bed on a ward.

Not boring there were 8 police here for hours dealing with 2 violent patients from custody.

Enjoy your day and keep safe

Hope you are recovering SF and get back home soon.

The lady I mentioned yesterday rang me in the afternoon, After I left she had fallen over and had to be taken to hospital. It must be catching :icon_wink:

Get better soon, your fish (and us) need you…

Good morning - I too hope you get better soon SF and are back home A.S.A.P. Regarding the custody patients. I’ll never understand why anyone gets violent towards those who are there to help them.

It’s cool and sunny here too Bruce but being at the other end of summer there is only colder weather, rather than warmer, to look forward to.

The new bed arrives today. We were up early taking the old one to pieces. Quite a sentimental occasion as it has seen us through about 30 or more years of life. Oh well (sigh).

We paid extra to have the old bed taken away but as it turns out, a grandson wants the mattress and the thick pine slats and side pieces could come in useful to me at some time (I’ve a ‘thing’ for not throwing timber away). There’s only the head and footboard for them to take. A bit of bad planning there on my part. Another ‘Oh well’.

Have the best day possible.

Morning all

The saga continues with my Father in law in hospital. Today is a meeting with family and doctors to discuss options, having reached the point where nothing that can be done for him. So we need to decide what to do next, such as move him to a hospice…and then try to explain it to him…

Not a day we’ve been looking forward to, although we have been expecting it.

Hope everyone has a good day…

Good morning!
Bright & sunny

Well, I had my long weekend to see my old friend in North Yorkshire, and it was nice enough

Met in a pub to talk about old times & old friends, what sort of careers & jobs we all ended up doing, and, sadly but inevitably, who’s died

He’s retired and formed a blues band; they were playing at a beer festival, but I managed to control myself

So the weekend was good - once I got there
I drove from Burnley to Pickering, and back, and the journey wasn’t very good
They have been doing various roadworks around Burnley, Nelson, & Colne for weeks and it’s hard work getting around what with loads of road closures, diversions; roadworks and long queues in Harrogate, and very long queues to get onto the roads around York and the A1
And the same on the return journey, it was all hard work

However I did manage to visit Whitby and buy some jet earrings for my daughter

Good morning/afternoon from South Yorkshire… :041:
Sorry to hear that Swim, I hope they can get you up and running again quickly, You feel so helpless when in hospital, it’s like being in prison but with good food and caring staff to look after you. But you are still denied freedom until the doctor in charge says you can go home.
I used to hate looking out of a six storey window on a sunny warm day, I could see some of my old running courses from that window and didn’t realise when I was jogging along without a care in the world, one day I would be resident in that tall grey building in the distance…
Today however…it was a freedom day, with a brilliant walk/jog down the canal towpath…
I just can’t resist walking down that peaceful path letting my mind go where it will…

Got a haircut booked in just over an hour so I better wash these breakfast pots…

Glad you enjoyed your visit to God’s own county Zulu. All the roads around here are being dug up for one reason or another and it’s a nightmare going to an appointment. You set off early to allow for the holdups and drive straight there with no bother and have to wait for hours, or you set off at the usual time and have to drive like Max Verstappen to get there in time…Only to find the doctor is running late and you still have to wait an hour… :009:
I’m just glad I’m not a courier anymore with time sensitive deliveries…

Good morning from the jumping mullet of Florida! They are out there hoping like mad, with some easily cleaning two feet above the water. I suspect it is black flies and mosquitos that are on the breakfast menu this morning.

Me too. I don’t think the powers that be ever consider what it’s like to be a woman or child to come home from work or school, only to be penned inside because of the darkness :weary:

I am terribly sorry to read about this news. In hospice will receive the best of palliative care and you all will get the best of support. If there are angels on the planet, they are dressed in scuba and have hospice nurse credentials.

Well, that’s no good. I hope you are treated quickly and home before dinner. :hugs:

I am sure that they were happy to get those pieces, regardless, and will have the slats replaced in no time.

So pretty, OGF. Besides just being lovely day, I envy you that Goldilocks trail surface - just hard enough to avoid the pitfalls (ha, the perfect pun) of an unimproved trail, but softer than a jarring concrete surface. Perfect.

Today, is scavenger hunt day. I have to replace my phone, which no longer pings with message notifications, drop off some donations at a nearby thrift store that supports the animal shelter, and then clean the ceiling air conditioning registers, which means dragging around and climbing up and down the the ten-foot ladder. The humidity causes condensation on the registers, so left unclean for more than a couple of months, mildew, mold, mushrooms and tropical forests are growing on the things in no time.

The hurricane machine is ramping up late in the season. None have hit the mainland this year, but a few invests are suddenly stirring up off the west coast of Africa. Hopefully Saharan dust that become condensates will subside, and cold fronts will continue to spin any development back over the Atlantic. I guess it’s not time to store the generator quite yet.

Have a good day!

Good afternoon everyone, first taste of Autumn today, and right on time, too. It’s been raining and temperatures have dropped to 20C. Not complaining really, it was actually too hot for late September.

Shopping in town this morning with mum and nothing else on for the rest of the day.

Sorry about the sad situation with your father-in-law @Graham.

Wishing you all the best @swimfeeders, hope you receive all the care you need in hospital. I remember seeing patients arguing with medical staff, it really is difficult for a patient not to lose his/her patience with the disorganization and inefficiency of the emergency department at our local hospital. I hope it’s better where you are.

You’re very brave @OldGreyFox, going out early morning with such cold temperatures!

This cooler weather is making me think about perhaps having a good old British teatime later on, munching on some delicious shortbread biscuits my cousin from London brought me when she came over last week. :teapot: :fortune_cookie:

Happy teatime/breakfast/dinner…

Just had this afternoon notification of driving licence renewal for the next 3 years. This means an eye test as I have glaucoma in both eyes. At least the cost of the test with a local authorize optician is free.

We got the new bed. Parts of it raise and lower with a remote control. Mrs mart is well happy. I spent the first minute clamped and folded in half by the mattress but once extricated from that, I soon got the hang of it.

Must make the night time nuptials easier if the bed does most of the up/down movement . Horizontal jogging gets harder the older one gets

A cup of soup and a watch of TV is the only pre-sleep activity these days. Although I tried the new bed out, we have our separate rooms now. If it’s good enough for royalty, it’s good enough for me.
